Didn't really matter in the end, even with a draw Ireland would have gone through. Could be an England Ireland QF!

I don't think they would have done Match.

No match, we were out if we didn't win.

Hmmm, perhaps I misunderstood. Thought they would have gone through as one of the 3rd place teams, I guess not.

Oh well, no complaints here!

Chuffed to bits. Delighted my beloved Ireland made it. Brilliant that all four home nations made it

Just surfacing in Ennis. Getting ready to go to a wedding in Kells. I am ruined.

What a night. From abject despair when Hoolahan missed his Bobby Zamora moment to scenes ofcarnage in about 30 seconds. Beer and hugging and kissing and dancing everywhere.

Two things: to quote Eamon Dunphy, France - they won't fancy playing us. Remember 2009? What goes around comes around. Karma baby!

Second - I'm never going to make it through this wedding 😴

What a result- nothing to lose now and one big score to settle

Time for RTE to put Dunphy and the old boys back in the social club they found them in,

Arrived in Montenegro for a week's break in time to watch the land of my ancestry put in a very spirited performance. Had to watch it with a SerboCroat (or whatever) commentary so it was difficult to work out Italy's team etc.

Even though they were poor and had made some changes(?), they still went very close to taking the lead on two or three occasions and the ref was so inept, it made me think of previous corruption in Italian football but I wouldn't have thought it was worth their while.

I was wondering why it took O'Neil so long to make the second sub but what an impact! At least I think it was Robbie Keane's cross that had me shouting goal before Brady had even headed it!

How many Irish players are now on a yellow and has anyone had two?

I am nervous at the prospect of England v Ireland quarter as I would have very mixed loyalties and emotions but bring it on!

Come on the boys in green!

What chance of an all Ireland final? Fanciful, but not impossible. Well done ROI. Great game for them. So glad O'Neill didn't get a chance to bring on 'let me play' Keane for it was he who I'm sure was going to replace Brady. Bring on the French.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

not good on a school night , im hanging & probabley p1ssed off the neighbours no end
got to say when the header went in it was best moment of the tournament so far for me , never count out a martin oneil team
brilliant that all the home nations are in the next round roll on the weekend and Monday

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I think ROI will beat France. They looked like they had found their rhythm. The team has clicked.
No need for motivation, just the magic numbers - 2009.

Superb game from the outset, clearly Keane had told them to get stuck in. Suprised how easily the Italians melted, not taking anything away from a superb ROI well deserved win. And the goal was sublime.

Wow. Just wow.

All the home nations made it through. Must be a first. Not sure which was the most impressive but massive credit to ROI and N.I huge gutsy performances from each of them.

Dunphy has been a disgrace these last few weeks. He's bitter and twisted. Time to put him out to pasture.

It was Hoolohan that put that pass in, FB, which was brilliant considering his miss one minute before.

Keane never came on in in the end. hard for you to follow, but he warmed up and everything but was sat down again when we scored.

Ha! You did - maith go leóir!

Dunphy used to be excellent but it's all agendas with him now, He hates O' Neill and it clouds every single comment eg Iceland doing well brings unsubtle comments from him that there are no excuses for Ireland not to qualify. Last night's post-match comments were along the lines of "the players bailed O' Neill out and bucked his system".

But the worst was his comments on James McCarthy after the Sweden game, a player he has vilified for ages now. as ever with him and his agendas, the abuse gets worse:-

"He is a waste of space, there is no other word for it. We won't be able to go on with McCarthy doing nothing in midfield. I've watched him all season at Everton, he got his manager sacked there. The guy does nothing. He strolls around the pitch like a traffic cop, pointing here and there, not doing anything himself. He doesn't have the character. He seems quite prepared to let other people do his job."

That's horrendous. Accusing McCarthy of getting his manager the sack is inexcusable and possibly libellous. If the great Bill O' Herlihy was still presenting he'd have pulled him up on it.
