My pc just randomly freezes then goes into blue screen mode with bios warning ...I ve tried everything. Is this a hardware or software issue. Seems to be getting worse. Would a restore help or do I need a new motherboard or something?

Any recent installs of h/w or s/w?
Mainly just software updates. It's really getting beyond a joke now as the screen just freezes and I have to restart every 20 mins or so...I'm wondering if it's hardware..

Anyways, the problem was the PC POWER SUPPLY UNIT (PSU)
The wattage was too low got a new one from Maplins with higher wattage and it works like a dream...So if you get problems like this check the power supply otherwise you will shell out a load of money for people to have a look at it and nothing will be resolved.
Bottom line any pc probs go to Maplins and talk to them.

I would have advised linux if you hadn't said you use it for games. More game are being made linux compatible now but it will be more of a ball ache than with windows. However, you wouldn't have to worry about the blue screen of death or viruses again. Was running linux mint on my laptop and could game on it through steam no problem at all, just less games available.

Granted there are more viruses specifically targetting Windows but the prevalance of linux based servers around the world means complacence isn't exactly the best approach.

Point taken regarding complacency. Compare that list to a list for windows...

Well, that's expected.
Windows is in use far, far more than Linux or MacOS amongst the public. There are more applications for Windows.
Anyone writing malware is obviously going to attack the most popular OS... equally the vast number of applications for Windows mean more attack vectors. Yes, there are technical differences that would lead to more Windows malware if all OS versions were is use equally...
