Hilly's View! on 10:22 - Dec 20 by TalkingSutty | The fans are well within their rights to voice their opinions regarding certain performances. No matter what Hill will have you believe the performances against Bury and Wigan weren't worthy of a local derby. No fight or passion on display. The red card against Swindon was a definite red and Hilly was wrong. Do we just have agree with him? Obviously the manager and Vincenti will lap up the accolades and slaps on the back but aim a bit of criticism regarding poor performances and listen to them bleat. They make me sick the lot of them, I don't give a shit if the players like Hendo or Donal won't celebrate with us anyway, a bunch of spoiled brats. Don't swallow all the baloney that the manager and players care about the fans anyway, if you think that you need to take a reality check. It's all about them!! |
Email Colin Garlick and ask if you can arrange 10 mins with Hilly to tell him how you feel and ask him a couple of questions. You did it with Coleman, so there's no reason why not to with Hilly.

At the start of the season we were flying and in the top 4 and people were claiming we were in with a shout of success this season. We are 4 points off the play off places and still in with a good shout. The players reaction to the goals yesterday I am sure were aimed at the crowd. Not one goal was celebrated with the fans, infact it appeared Hendo and McDermott actually turned away from the crowd to make a point. We don't have a right to criticise as we are in the best ever position as Rochdale FC. I am sure Hilly is building for the long game, with that in mind there are bound to be upsets along the way. If that viewpoint, in your opinion, makes me look daft, then so be it. No happy clapping here, just realistic and optimistic. |
Not too sure that the players aimed anything at the crowd. We still had the Vincenti vs McNulty battle to be the last player to applaud the supporters long after everyone else had left the pitch. The way those two are continuing, they'll be the last two left in the stadium.

It's about earning only £100k + a year instead of £1m + Pisses them right off. Seriously. I actually think Keith Hill is pissed off because he's not earning in excess of £1m like other managers, who may be less talented than him. So he's lashing out, and we're the target. It's our fault, and he can't bear to keep it to himself any longer. Doesn't have the sense to realise no chairman in their right mind would take a chance on him pissing off their home support. And the above is my honestly held opinion, something I've been thinking for a long time, not a knee jerk reaction to yesterday's post match diatribe.

Hendo had just scored a highly protested penalty against his former club. Donal had been booed a few seconds earlier in the move and also dropped a ricket for their goal Ollie Lancashire at least celebrated like a kid at Christmas, he's lethal from 2 yards of late.

Disagree with that, I do think players and managers care about supporters. The will be some that don't, much as in most jobs where people don't care about their customers, but footballers do value being supported. Sometimes, just sometimes, it helps to make supporters aware of that. Something Hill cold have easily done yesterday a few days before Christmas. Sensing a minority that aren't buying into the philosophy (that bloody word)? Turn it on it's head and thank the loyal supporters for turning up and hoping their festivities have been improved by a welcome three points. So easy. So effective.

I reckon Hendo does, too. They have time for supporters who want to talk to them, from what I've seen/experienced. And let's not savage Hill personally. For me, the issue is genuine bewilderment about his comments yesterday and how he has come to that conclusion. If it's because we've had the audacity to discuss games in which we've not performed, on here, then there is a problem. If it's because a few idiots have posted 'Hill out' threads, again on here, we have a bigger problem. Well, we don't have a problem, he does. This our place - not the players' or manager's. A lot of what is said on here is blowing off steam and genuine constructive criticism, which we're pretty good at self-regulating. It is not a barometer for players/managers/journalists/club employees.

Well he wouldn't agree with my points of view anyway would he? He's made it obvious what he thinks of those who disagree with him. He would be better off conversing with those who love to blow smoke up his arse, same with Colin Garlick. We do have some supporters who specialise in Brown Nosing with the hierarchy. So much so they find it impossible to even criticise constructively. It obviously makes them a superior supporter. Thanks for your suggestion anyway,I didn't see you voicing your opinion when Coleman gave everybody the opportunity!! Maybe you could have a word with Mr Garlick and ask him to pass my email address to Mr Hill, he can contact me personally for a meeting then. You seem to be keen on arranging these meetings. The Club will have my email address because I purchase season tickets every Summer which costs me a lot of money. The ones I've been to at the cricket club have been really good and fans came away from them with a real appreciation of where he was coming from. The forums are the same but they get sidetracked with other club stuff. Invite questions in advance and have time for some on the night, link it to the Trust charity as a fundraiser with maybe an auction of a few shirts or something. It'd really help establish that 'connection', not that I can see the disconnect myself!

The only disconnect is supporters not agreeing with his point of view. I have endured another viewing of the Wigan and Bury games and as much as I have tried, there wasn't many positives. Hillys interviews seemed to talk us out of the games before a ball had been kicked and the performances reflected that. If you dont believe me ask the neutrals who watched the games in the pub, we can't all be wrong. I keep looking at the red card at Swindon and it's still a red card. Basically I don't agree with Hills opinion so that means i am some sort of poor supporters. I never boo the team and only offer support for 90 minutes. After the game I post on the forum what i thought of the game, good or bad. My admiration for Hilly is apparent in my numerous posts, contrary to what some on here would have you think, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with him all the time and that's the crux of the matter really, disagreeing with the manager is seen as a no go area by some.

The only disappointment that a few Dale fans have is the recent monotonous football - NOTHING ELSE. A few performances this season have bordered on unacceptable - Millwall and Morecambe spring to mind straight away. We're all happy with the league position and the 'philosophy' of developing and improving young players surrounded by an experienced framework. The management team and players are certainly appreciated by the fans, but i'm not sure we're appreciated by the management team and players.

No, fans disagreed with his opinion on the red card at Swindon and some of the recent displays, this is then interpreted as supporters having a go at the manager because we don't agree with him. You are probably like a lot of us who shell out a lot of hard earned money to travel all over the country SUPPORTING the team, do you think you are entitled to voice your opinion of what you have just watched? Personal abuse is out of order and I have never been a big fan of booing but if people aren't happy with what they are watching they react in different ways The ones calling for him to be sacked or making banners should just be ignored really, we aren't talking about them. They are the salt of the earth to the club ...thats a four letter word beginning with s and ending with t. KH just gets the middle two letters wrong. I admit I have a problem with the Club and I have for a while really. It's not just the Club it's football in general and the way supporters are treated by those who make a good living from the game. The more Hilly talks down to the fans, preaches about educating us and then comes out with daft comments after the Swindon game etc, the more it makes me want to react. They accept the praise and preen themselves like peacocks but if anybody has the audacity to criticise in any way watch them whinge. I think it was the time when Colin Garlick or maybe those above him tried to inflict an illegal charge on supporters debit card transactions that really brought it home to me, maybe two or three years ago now. Obviously when some supporters stood their ground the charges had to be adjusted. It made me realise how I was just seen as a cash cow to the Club. I was really looking forward to the Race Night organised by the trust in order to raise funds for the Club. Then the Trust had to switch the venue because the club wouldn't allow them to use their facility. I decided not to go. Squeezing even more money out of fans when purchasing tickets on line, ridiculous handling fees etc. Then Matchday comes around and it's pay on the day. Supporters exploited again, it matters little who is to blame. It's a drip, drip effect so to be honest i have no interest in,or great love of any of the characters who make their living out of Football and I don't believe they give a jot about the supporters if i am honest. We are there to be milked, often treated like idiots and told to shut up. I still like the game though and the players who serve up the entertainment, they are the reason I keep going. I can accept bad performances because that's all part and parcel of the game, it still gets me fired up though when we under perform. I like to lavish praise and in general we have a honest group of players who try their best and give us plenty to shout about. It's the ups and downs of football and the players are always the most important people, everybody else is just the side show. [Post edited 20 Dec 2015 13:25]

We've got a pretty young squad and even the experienced players that are here enjoy the fact that they are allowed to make mistakes by both the management and the fans. This is needed in order for them to play the no fear style of football that Hill advocates and we all love. At the minute when things aren't going exactly to plan is when we as supporters need to show patience at the end of the day I think 99% of us still have enough belief in this set of players.

What do you mean by 'our' response? Every fan or just a small minority who are a bit louder than others. I heard a few moans and groans in the TDS Stand, but they wouldn't have been heard on the pitch or in the dugout and they lasted less than a minute. 'The fans', 'us', 'our'; it's getting a bit tedious that all 2124 home fans who were there yesterday are being judged on the actions and words of a small, even a tiny, minority.

How can his comments be spot on when the vast majority do show patience? You can't control everyone's emotions, or natural reactions during the course of a football match. It'd be like trying to control the crowd at a match in North Korea, and that's not why us precious couple of thousand fans turn up week in week out. Keith Hill just couldn't be more wrong about the vast majority of us, and someone in the Dale hierarchy needs to develop some balls and tell him straight.
