I went to see Killing Joke last month. The Roundhouse. The sound was dogshit and I got splashed full on with beer by the sort of dickmuncher that takes a beer into a moshpit. I was very annoyed until about ten songs in when I found my brother and a viewpoint that didn't entirely suck.

The band were good. I've seen them many, many times and they can vary but this was a good night for them.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Damian Rice in Cork.

The sound assaulted the ears and he was being incredibly pretentious.

We lasted four and a half songs.

With Juzzie Jnr on the scene, tickets through work severely reduced and a general dearth of bands I actually want to see, I rarely go any more.

My last was a year or so ago, Simple Minds at Koko, Camden Town. Good gig, belted out the hits and plenty of energy rather than an old band going through the motions.

F.ck me that was amazing even on my shitty laptop speakers.

They sound just as good as when I was taping them off the John Peel show as a kid in the late 70's/early 80's.

Noel Gallagher at Albert Hall last week. Whole family went which is pretty rare these days (5 of us). Last time we all went together was Michael McIntrye I think, which puts things into perspective haha.

In fairness, we did have a bit of a rowdy time of it, by our standards.

Leon Bridges at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin 29/9. Brilliant gig. Old school Stax style soul revival. Has a great future if he keeps up his present high standards and doesn't go all mainstream or revert to rap.

KoRn, Brixton Acadamy in September (i think)

I know it's ridiculous Nu-Metal jock-rock, but i was indulging the 18 year old Nu-metaler in me, and regardless of genre, Jonathan Davis is a spectacularly good front man.

Hoping to see Slipknot early next year. Say whatever you want about the pros and cons of speed-nu-metal, Slipknot live are one hell of a show...

Can we not knock it?

Love Korn, disappointed to have never seen them live. Small 'mates bands' aside I think my last 'proper' gig was the Specials at the Roundhouse, was ages ago...

The British Summer Time concert at Hyde Park in June. Johnny Marr, Kaiser Chiefs, Weller and The Who. Great night. Next gig lined up is The Who again at Wembley in February although might go along to see the Libertines at the O2 at the end of January.

They really aren't the same without Lee Brilleaux at the helm. Not bad still, but seeing them now just doesn't feel right. Brilleaux, Wilko, Gypie, Big Figure and Sparko, were Dr Feelgood. I just wish this current bunch, talented as they are, reverted to a different name and not made it look like some tribute act masquerading under the name of Dr Feelgood.

There aint half been some clever bastards.
