That would have been enough last year, but it's rarely less than 37 points to stay up.
Which teams out of the bottom 6 are going to get 37 points or more?
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

as much as we hate the phrase the last two games were bonus ones, same as City, Liverpool and Chelsea next month. You have to try and win those games and I thought we did that and approached the games with attacking intent which was better than the way we treated the reverse fixtures but any points you get in those games is a bonus.
Our survival will depend on the home games with Everton, Newcastle and West Ham and the away ones at palace, West Brom, Villa and Leicester.
21 points on offer in those and we'll need at least 12 possibly more to stay up which is achievable in my opinion..

When we didn't bring a striker in during January and when Fer got injured it pretty much sealed our fate. Dunne as well. The Yun injury that meant Hill was at left back over Christmas. It's all added up.

To be fair, the text quotation is from The Battle of Maldon, a battle between the English and Vikings; it didn't end well.
The rot set in when some bloke stole the English commanders horse and rode off, causing most of the home team to assume that the commander had scarpered. My theory is the bloke on the horse only got on it because his knee had gone and he probably needed an operation

Nope. Not right.
Some games are harder than others, but as Bradford beating Chelsea among other results proves, these games are winnable. The fact we do not win them does make them a 'bonus'.
There are 38 games to play, or put another way, 38 games that can be won.
We're having bad luck and are in bad form - the two sure signs of a team destined for the drop. We need to start winning games now, and definitely not approaching City, Liverpool and Chelsea as bonuses. Otherwise it's four or five wins from seven, rather than 10.

On the one hand Lblock, you were totally right................ on the other hand you were totally wrong............. there are no must wins until you must win them to stay up.
‘morbid curiosity about where this is all going’

I'm not saying we should approach them as a bonus game, you have to approach these games the same as any other with a plan and do everything you can to win them and I thought we did that in the last two games but any points you get out of them are a bonus as those teams are miles better than us and if they play well will beat us.
