Someone's said what you've said on Twitter. Hope it's not true but sympathies to the family of whoever it was.

It has just been reported on the north west news that the injuries are now not thought to be life threatening. Let's hope he can make a good recovery.

He has apparently suffered ' life changing' but not 'life threatening' injuries.

Hope he can come out of this in relatively good shape. Fingers crossed for him.

Here we go! Don't think theres anything to suggest that this was in anyway related to his well documented depression.

What more would you suggest could be done tazzy for players who are leaving the game after living such a hard life of making money most could only dream of, all whilst playing a game many of us PAY ourselves to play at weekend, never mind being paid for the privilege of doing so.

Just imagine how depressed he'd be if he'd retired from playing amateur football if he had to be up at 5 most mornings to do a bit of graft through the day.

Tis strange this is still labed an accident.
Without trying to get the site in trouble legally...
There aint any footpath on that particular point of the A64 & to be honest you never see folk walking down A64.
Unless he fell off the bridge directly above where he was hit.

If its just the press having respect by not labeling it something else, then its the first time for everything.

Sounds like you are assuming that wealth prevents depression and/or depression is something that is caused by unhappiness?

Depression isn't just about being unhappy. Just because he has made a lot of money playing football, doesn't mean he isn't going to suffer from depression, there is no causation.

I don't think the support needed is just about footballers in this case but more needs to be done to support people with depression generally.

There is causation, it's just that science/medicine has yet to get to the root of it. It can be a genetic predisposition with a biochemical imbalance (see also post-natal depression), or it can be a series of life events or a combination of both. Some people suffer horrendous misfortune but remain generally upbeat.

But you're absolutely right to say that depression is no respecter of wealth, status, looks or ability. I just fear that the "life changing" injuries will leave him in an even worse state of mind than before.

You clearly have absolutely no idea whatsoever about depression, its' causes or how it manifests itself.

it makes not a jot of difference about social status, individual or personal wealth, job satisfaction number of cars on the drive etc, etc. All are utterly irrelevant.

It is ridiculous and offensive to suggest that someone with a good job, nice house, smart car and fat bank balance is immune from depression.

Whatever the reason for Clark Carlisle's accident, we can only hope he recovers well and can resume a normal family life as soon as possible.

Part of the problem is that the word depression is banded about so casually these days. Depression is completely separate to feeling blue or down in the dumps. It's an incredibly complex illness (as are the majority concerning the functioning of the mind) and more needs to be done identifying it, treating it and providing the appropriate aftercare.

Mental Health comes in many shapes or forms such as a example were you think the world is against you there can be many others such not liking the way you look in the mirror to were you see an entirely different person another could be seeing people who not there but ends up entirely controlling your though's and feeling's and one final one could be split personality one positive and one negative

I can get an 8 letter word and it describes you perfectly sudden, pathetic.

How you can be depressed when you have such an easy life is beyond me, the lad would struggle in the real world.

Wish him a speedy recovery though.
