Think the ref should take control in that situation but on the whole it's down to the individual. If I'd have taken a pen against him I would have done similar to what Hunter suggested and pushed him back in his goal. If I'd have scored too I would have been right in his face, telling him he's 2nd choice for a reason and Newcastle are shit.
It's the individual, you have the pressure of a penalty, to knock you out of a world cup. Some dick goalie giving it big licks won't matter if you put the ball in the right place, keepers can't save properly taken penalties.
