Brede Hangeland Released 19:03 - Jun 3 with 5188 viewsbeanofire1

Anybody think he might be of use to us? (Taking that he doesn't want to retire, etc!)

We've got our quota of steady but scarily slow defenders. Need another Onuoha type IMO.

He's been declining massively for a while now, was an immense find for them originally but not the same player now and not the kind we need/want

Agree. But we also need a ball-playing/carrying centre-half, as Chief is not so bright with ball at his feet.

Just been saying the same on twitter was a very good defender hence the word WAS. We really need to learn at QPR these are not the players to help us survive he was a joke at the back the day we beat them at loftus road he looked finished then

Just saw he was 32. Scrub that - you are all right, he is not the 'right sort'. We require younger players first off.

He'd be good at defending corners, but that's about it

Aye, he was class, as others have said. Need to be looking at younger players though - and ones that are still class

Fulham got relegated because they kept letting opposition CBs score at set pieces. I'd rather have Dawson or Rio and i hope there are better options than the latter two.

After 6 and a half years at Fulham- last year as captain- Brede Hangeland was told through an Email that the club have released him.

Stay classy.

Only if you looked at what we did in the Premier League last time and fancy doing it again.

We need legs and pace, it's what our team currently lacks. Hangelaand isn't helping with that, and I'm not sure he's as good as Dunne even.

There's one or two Fulham players of interest, but he's not one.

Only 32? I thought he was older than that.

Or is that a George Weah, Kanu, Eto'o 32?

Nah I think that's because for the last 18 months he's been playing like he's 46.

Don't like the look of Brede. Slow is not what we need.

Normally I would say we need to bring in young players. I am beginning to think that might not be the case along the back line. IF our defense currently consists of Onouha, Simpson, and Yun (and granted it isn't clear that 'arry is ready to play Yun consistently, so its still an IF), then that is plenty of youth and perhaps an old experienced head might be useful there in the middle to keep the other three honest, so to speak. As an addition to those three, perhaps someone like Rio (if he is willing to come for wages that don't break the bank) makes more sense. A sensible, experienced, respected head amongst three young up-and-comers. Kind of like Tony Currie in a team with Allen, Goddard, and Waddock. I know its not the same, but the idea is the balance.
