Evening all
Off to Madrid for a city break next weekend. 4 of us going. Hoping to get to watch Real Madrid v Espanyol, but also looking for places to see etc. No doubt alcohol is going to play some part during the weekend, but any suggestions for restaurants / bars etc would be gratefully received  |  |

One of the best cities in Europe!
Plenty to see and do but I suggest to get a small guide book. Visit the El Rastro market on the sunday morning. For eating (and drinking) visit one of the museo del jamon restaurants and try a raciones of jamon - superb - or try their daily menu for only 10 euro.

Had a stag weekend in Madrid ,great city go to the plaza mayor square for a drink .
The night life is great plenty of bars of course & gentleman establishments.
Watch the hookers on the streets in the night obviously superb pick pockets. |  |

Great Irish bar watched the FA cup final in there a couple of years back

By the way please don't post why go in an Irish bar when in Spain. I wanted to watch the football with some mates, whilst the women wondered round some market.
Some girly type men may have rathered wondering round the market holding their Mrs hand, but that's not for me.

One of the best bars we went to was where Laurie Lee (Cider with Rosie) spent many of his evenings whilst in Madrid, old wood pannelled, locals haunt, drinking chilled sherry (which is how the locals drink it) and with the barman bringing a constant stream of tapas. Search it out  |  |
