I don't understand all the Caulker doubters.We all know how good he is and i don't buy into the Ash nurtured him hype.He's a better defender than Ash just not as experienced,scores more goals and is not as error prone.It's that basket case of a club up the road that's tarnished him.
As for Ash,well we've had an incredible loyal servant and most of us didn't think he'd be here this season so if he did decide to go then I think it would be with every Swans fans blessing.We've been pretty poor at the back this seaon so maybe it's time for a change anyway. |

Lets be honest we ve had our monies worth out of him.
He s getting on a bit now so can t blame him if he went for a bigger pay deal somewhere. When you re talking the difference of millions of pounds and a long life in front of you then a lot of players would go for the cash without doubt.

He's got a tendency for the odd "rush of blood" which you'd expect in a young player, but otherwise he's got it all as far as I can see. Big, strong, quick and good on the ball. Perhaps not as technically skilled as Chico but then again neither is Ash and it's not done him any harm. | |

Ash could have had a move last season if he only listened to Tutu !
I feel he is too old now for us to get good re-sale, last season was IMO his best time , i would not be grudge him a move to another club,we have seen the best of him and he has been fantastic for us overall.
It may also be a smart move if we get a new manager in, some of the senior players are a bit set in their ways and have a stronger influence with the board than perhaps they should .
Happy if he stays ,happy if he get a move to a big club .

The way we dominated the ball under Rodgers masked the true Caulker.. out of his depth at Spurs and Scum.. decent but over hyped. I wish we could dominate games like we did under BR at home and had the ML approach away from home. |  |

Sigh. The revisionism has begun early then. Replacing Ash with Caulker is an immediate downgrade and I don't want to be banking on Caulker getting better after regressing this season.
You have to wonder why, for a relatively modest fee of £8million, other clubs weren't clamoring to get their hands on a future England centre half. You also have to wonder why Tottenham were willing to let him go despite their problems in defence.
If Ash leaves we'll be replacing him with a recognised international centre back. Not Caulker and certainly not Kyle f*cking Bartley. [Post edited 9 Apr 2014 16:17]

Good point about the wages. They shouldn't be on silly wages, but as we've seen from some of the media reports it's seems like Tan has been prepared to pay over the odds. So, we probably couldn't afford to take on any of their players.

Caulker was great for us and was very good for Spurs last year- hence the England call up. He was young and very inexperienced for us, but really benefitted from having either Monk or Ash alongside him, talking to him and organising the defence. Less impressive for Cardiff this season but much of that is about what he has alongside him and in front of him.
No problems from me if he joined us, and as much as I like him, I'm not sure Chico is the bloke to bring the best out of him as I often think he needs somebody like Ash as well.
Can't see it happening for 2 reasons though:
- I suspect liverpool may come sniffing
- His wages could be a deal breaker
Shame though as he provides a great attacking option at our corners and height when we're defending |  |
