I do like that new mix, very 99/00 Hard trance. But have to say your right that the orginal is best.
I watched Weekender set in 1990 again the other day and heard that Kinetic remix lol. I reckon it's a really really good film way better than some of the critic reviews...... plus the main lad is QPR. What lets it down to an extent was the lack of an eye for 1990 detail in regard to the backdrop, dialouge, clothes (though they tried), and music. In fairness with clothes that's probably my problem as I could tell the difference between January 1990 & mid April 1990 and get proper lemon about it if they got it wrong. The music though, so many tunes that came out much later than 1990 which is really annoying. The thing is the story is very spot on in so many ways, if you've read Altered States with the Quality Street Gang, Salford and Moss side etc.
3.75 stars from me and why not?
Overall Good soundtrack though, Anything that starts off with this tune, even a Period drama with Colin Firth (and I Bloody hate period dramas ;-) ) has my vote....

I’m going to try and persuade the missus to watch weekender this evening It won’t be her thing at all but she’ll probably be asleep within 20 minutes of it starting.
