The Frankie Friday Music Thread.....RIP on 14:15 - Sep 16 by FloridaR
Very interesting never been close to a any band & Jamiroquai has been one that I have listened to everything he's ever produced/favourite artist :) Many years ago I attempted to get in a couple of his gigs one under some arches, possibly ealing or notting hill and couldn't get in, we gave up trying to get in the small venues in the end and then he went big venues only, in the end he got ahead of himself, album every 5 years lol. agreed Acid/Jazz crossover house was a great era. You must be a fan of Giles Petterson ?
This was my favourite Acid Jazz/House crossover track

Poxy laptop sent the message before I had a chance to type it!
Anyway, I first saw him/them at Brighton Jazz Bop which used to show all the new up and coming bands. I didn't realise at the time but I actually knew his then manager who I went to school with all be it a year younger than me. So, there I am standing outside the venue when his manager comes over for a chat talking about what we have both been up to yada yada when the cat in the hat comes from nowhere saying he needs to get in the venue lively to his manager. We cut the conversation quickly with me asking how his older brother is who also was at my school but this time a year above me. He tells me he is doing great and mentions to listen out for a band called The Young Disciples as he is in it. So over a short space of time I end up finding out that three fella's I knew were playing in most probably the three biggest Acid Jazz bands around. Unfortunately no back stage passes but a good drink up with Wallis Buchanan one Xmas many years ago who was the Didgeridoo player in Jamiroquai.
Giles was ok until he started to get to clever with his eclectic off the scale Jazz tracks. More of a Norman Jay man myself.

Love it.
Sally Rodgers always appealed to me for some reason...she still does now as we've grown older together.
Of course Barefoot In The Head was a monster track but I also liked most of their Balearic Beats. Estelle another that had me drifting off in bliss on the white sands of Escana in Ibiza many moons ago
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I was going to include this classic in the last post but then realised/remembered it's more than worthy of it's own post. It has to be in my top 10. It's tunage of the highest order and just reminds of so many clubs and "Good Times" and christ I'd love some more!
Those tracks are absolute monsters that have so many memories attached to them it's beyond belief The OD Quartet is a tale I've already told I think on here. My opening track to my New Years Eve set in Kentish Town in 94 / 95 after the midnight chimes. Spine tingling Followed it up with this little ditty later on that night from the same stable. Met Rollo with his sister at a do once, she was quite pleasing on the eye and not a bad singer if you like that stuff, wonder if she's still with Alan Smith?!?!?

I'm putting this up here for no other reason than to recognise the dyslexia ram of the Frankie thread as headed by our very own Glenn form Nroth Chnifrod, Esesx.
From one of my favourite raves I attended ever..... The Living Dream
Monster
Had to have a week off work after that one.... the old skool tent was where you'd of found me. My brain was in a laboratory jar in the corner of the marquee.
"doves, doves, doves...."

The summers of 95, 96 and 97, Daft Punk had the midas touch for disco house. Now there as about as fashionable as Burton menswear safari jackets. What can you do.
Ahh memories.
The Duke Of New York. A-Number One.
