your name was the DNA in intelligent/soulful house music.
for us old cnts on here old enough to remember the '86/87 period it was awash with luther vandross , rollys royce, atlantic starr ,col abrahams and bleedin five starr , then you pioneers gave us a sprinkling of magic dust, that took us on a different trajectory.
without you i might have been into (gulp)heavy metal or a goth, with an addiction to snakebite .
the house track that summed it all up 27 fackin years ago .simple times.another bit of your history dies..
from ce ce rogers 1987 'someday'
The world is cold and times are bad. Everytime I think about it, it makes me sad. War and drugs are everywhere and it's getting so hard to breathe the air. But it doesn't have to be like this, all the rancour and bitterness. If we can just open our eyes we can make the world a paradise.
Someday. We'll live as one family in perfect harmony. Someday. When we all pull together we will all be free. Someday.
Free from the pressure and the prejudice we can change it all with tenderness. There'll be no void between black and white. We'll be able to walk the streets at night. I won't be fooled while someone dies of starvation, the whole world will be my nation. We will walk hand in hand. I'll go to South Africa and be called a man.
Someday. We'll live as one family in sweet harmony. Someday. If we all pull together we will all be free.
Mmmm, someday.
We'll live as one family
RIP...

Someday is one of my all time favourites Disco. Sterling Void was another great artist from that era.
did see a set with him this year when he had to sit by the decks, he looked really ill a real shame
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Mate, I turned 50 last month and my wife and kids bought me a turntable. I have had a great time digging out these old classics from the loft. I had forgotten I had so many. This guy and Marshall Jefferson were legends.

im pushing 46 now, and still have a couple of technics 1210mk 2s. although all i do these days is mr sheen them.
got rid of 50% of my vinyl (for shame).still have a good couple of thousand good and not so good pieces knocking about in the garage though, much to er indoors extreme rage.
think i mentioned i had a record stall in camden and greenwich back in the nineties(racks of wax..cringe!).
i would play my turntables but my back plays me up if i stand up too long , let alone throw any embarrasing shapes on the floor.
keep the flag flying mate.

That sounds great mate.
The funny thing is that my 17 year old son loves my music. House has made a big comeback over the last couple of years and a lot of it is not bad at all.
Can't beat the old classics though. Strings of Life still brings the hairs up on the back of my neck.
