Hey up Cardiff ! How you ever done the double - have you ?

Swansea City cast aside any concerns of a first Cardiff double in the history of the South Wales derby with a display of pure quality to again defeat the Bluebirds.

This is the eighth win for the Swans over the last eleven meetings and today as expected the Cardiff response is as it always is when they lose to Swansea City. In some cases even their own fans are embarrassed by the latest excuses for losing this fixture.

When you look back at the Bluebirds only victory in this fixture earlier on this season (in years) the reaction was the new Cardiff City are world beaters and the new coming was with us. Even the defender, Tanner who was hailed as the next big thing has had a disastrous season since then and yesterday he was hopeless. We could easily look back at those reactions for their 2-0 win, and there’s little mention of Swansea City not being their main rivals. The reason of course is that the Swans have primarily dominated Welsh club football for so many years it’s merely an excuse.

Yesterday we saw everything from Luke Williams new Swansea that the fans of the club have been begging for all season. A dominant display, courageous and effectively planned to undermine any effort Cardiff could muster. Let’s have a look at some of the usual nonsense when Cardiff lose to the Swans.

This is the general feedback from certain quarters, it’s basically saying (as we know) Cardiff City have little if any passion to win games and they are not good enough.

The - It’s their cup final. Well, unlike Cardiff City the Swans win their cup finals knocking out Chelsea over two legs and Liverpool away on route to our major trophy success. Success is only measured by what you win, not what you lose, and this of course is the same for the South Wales derby games. Cardiff followers fall back on this ‘cup final’ thing, because all they know is losing them this century. This comment really is another example of Cardiff fans admitting they are not good enough. A few Cardiff fans are embarrassed by these statements, and there are many. And honestly, we don’t blame them.

You can find all manner of excuses from a variety of message boards pretty much referring to these type of excuses. When the Swans lost earlier on this season the outpouring of total disaffection was palpable. The Swansea response was anger and a total lack of support for Michael Duff. And rightly so.

Cardiff fans usually make these same claims throughout any season, this fixture has become a nightmare for them. And banging on about winning a game against Swansea in the Premier League as some form of compensation - when you then say the game doesn’t matter to them sort of sums up the intellect when these excuses are made.

Have a great Sunday, we will.
