Flynn Downes Loan Move From West Ham Delayed

Southampton supporters have been waiting with baited breath for the 24 hours for confirmation that as James Ward Prowse went in one direction, Flynn Downes came the other way in a season long loan, but there is a slight hitch.

insidefootball.com are reporting that the loan move to Southampton from West Ham United for midfielder Flynn Downes has hit a slight hitch, the player himself is ill.

It seems that due to an, as of of yet unspecified illness Flynn Downes is unable to take his medical, when he will be well enough or indeed whether this will put the deal back long enough, that he won't be able to play in Saturday's game at Plymouth is as of yet unclear.

The report also says that as soon as he is well, he will travel to Southampton, take the medical and finalise the deal, there is no suggestion that there is anything other than illness that is holding things up.
