Manchester City Coach Turned Down Manager Offer At Southampton

Saints seem to like all things Manchester City and according to a story now doing the rounds on the internet, they made a further foray up to the North West and allegedly offered the job of replacing Ruben Selles to Pep Guardiolas assistant.

Saints have signed up both players and backroom staff from Manchester City in the last year and now they have gone a step further if media outlet Footballinsider247 is to be believed by offering the managers job at St Mary's to City assistant manager Enzo Maresca.

The 43 year old Italian who started his professional playing career at West brom before playing for a plethora of clubs in both his home country and also Spain and Greece, has spent the 6 years both as an assistant coach, Man City's U23 manager and a year as manager of Parma before returning to City as Pep Guardiola,s assistant last summer.

Maresca though has turned down the chance to be the manager at St Mary's only a year of what is a decent job as assistant to Pep Guardiola, he fits the blueprint for Sports Republic, but sadly he will not be joining us this summer.
