Three Days To Go To The Season Will There Be A Southampton Transfer Shock !

With just three days to go before the start of the 2022/23 Premier league season Saints are coming up on the rumour mill and being linked with both incoming and outgoing transfer deals, will any of them come to fruition.

The biggest news seems to be that Chelsea are after Kyle Walker Peters, this seems a strange one given that Chelsea are well stocked in the full back department and are linked with other signings both at right and left back.

I would say that this one is more of a stalking horse by Chelsea or the media trying to stir up page hits, why would Walker Peters go to be a back up to one of the players he is hoping to move in front of in the England squad.

If Tino Livramento was fit this might have a some sort of logic about it, but he isn't likely to be until the New Year, so I can't see KWP going anywhere just yet, especially when he knows a good start to the season with Saints will put him in the frame for a place in England's World Cup squad.

Jan Bedarek looked likely to be the first man out of St Mary's and his body language at the end of last season seemed to say that he was expecting to go, his body language this season isn't much different, but it is more of a man whose agent had assured him there were plenty of club's ready to sign him, only for that to be proved to be a load of old codswallop, Bednarek now looks like a man who knows he is stuck where he is.

Leeds United continue to be linked with Che Adams and more strangely at a fee roughly half his actual value, with two years left on his contract Saints are in no desperation to sell and are short in forwards at the moment.

This rumour seems to be one where Leeds are looking to use the media to try and placate their fans after some big name departures, I can't see this one happening unless Ralph Hasenhuttl truly has two experienced strikers about to put pen to paper in coming to St Mary's.

That brings us on to potential incoming transfers, Moussa Dembele continues to be heavily linked with several sources claiming that the deal is imminent, but so far nothing, with Saints usually getting things done under the radar, this could be a goer, whether it is done in time for him to feature at Tottenham Hotspur is another question.

Armando Broja keeps on coming up, two months ago he was linked with all and sundry at £50 million, now the potential suitors are dwindling, I said at the tail end of last season that I thought another loan deal to St Mary's could be on the cards, that is looking increasingly likely with the player not in the frame for Thomas Tuchel's first team squad and running out of options.

So the countdown to the season is on, 3 days to go !
