Saints Linked With Mohammed Salisu

Saints are being linked with signing Mohammed Salisu but does this rumour have any substance or is it just agent talk with Everton & Manchester United also linked.

Mohammed Salisu has recently been linked with a move to England but is seems that much of the talk is from media sources close to his club Real Valladollid who have been trying to get him to sign another deal and would perhaps prefer to ship him out now if that doesn't happen.

Manchester United have also been linked , although as Juan Mata’s father represents the player, that is an easy link to make to the Old Trafford club.

The central defender has a release clause standing at €12m, which wouldn’t be a problem if a Premier League club is seriously keen. Pucela Fichajes, who have been carrying the claims, say Southampton could be about to offer €10m, which would then in turn present the chance of another club going for the full €12m, so as not to lose out.

Salisu is the type of player that Saints would normally look at, aged just 20 and with his best years ahead, howver it is not what Saints need at the moment, Salisu has only 18 games experience in La Liga only having moved up from Real Valladollid B in the summer.

He has impressed with his displays hence the Spanish club keen to either sign him up to a new deal with either no release clause or an increased one, or cash in on him now.

So I think this rumour is more about his agent trying to get him a move now rather thn Saints being interested.

Yes he would be ideal for us, but truthfully we need a central defender in with the experience necessary, not with limited game time as he has so far.
