Another New Signing Imminent

Saints are about to announce the signing of Danish central defender Jannik Vestergaard from Borussia Monchengladbach.

According to various media reports Jannik Vestergaard has completed a medical and will be announced as the third major signing for Saints this evening.

Standing at 6ft 7 Vestergaard will add some much needed aerial power to the Saints back four and is also able to play as a holding defender in midfield.

Part of the Danish Worlds Cup squad although he didn't get on the pitch Vestergaard has made his name in the Bundesliga namely at Borussia Monchengladbach where he has starred for the last two seasons and previously at Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim.

Saints are said to be about to pay around 20 million euros for the plaster who turning 26 in a few weeks and nearly 200 Bundesliga games to his name as well as 16 Danish caps is ready to try and make the step up to the Premier League.

If he signs that will make five central defenders in the Saints squad with Hoed, Bednarek, Yoshida and Stephens already in situ, when the signing is announced it will be one central defender took many, expect to see one of either Yoshida or Stephens leaving, possibly initially on loan.

Either way its good to see Saints spending before they are selling.
