Spurs Star Linked As Alternative To Promes

Saints are being linked with a deal with Tottenham Hotspur as the deal to sign Quincy Promes seems to be heading to frustration with Spartak Moscow.

Saints are being linked with Spurs winger Erik Lamela if the deal for Quincy promes goes out of the window.

Spurs are set to sign PSG’s Brazilian winger Lucas Moura in a deal worth £25 million and if they do so then it will pave the way for Saints to land Lamela.

Given the fact that he has only just returned to action after more than a year out with a hip injury that required two operations, the price for lamela would be substatially less than Promes would cost, but would mean they would get a player with considerable Premier League and International experience who at 25 has the right balance of both that and youth that Saints seem to like in a player.

The cost of buying him is unclear although it would be less than the £25 million that Spurs paid 4 1/2 years ago, a loan deal could also be on the cards if Saints wanted to first assess his fitness etc.
