Newly promoted Serie A side Bologna have set their sights on signing Graziano Pelle to lead their attack in the coming season.
Bologna director Pantaleo Corvino has made Pelle the number one target for the newly promoted Italian club, however it looks like they will receive short shrift from Saints who highly value the contribution made by the striker last season.
Pelle scored 16 times for Saints in all competitions last season to add to 50 goals in the previous two seasons with Feyenoord in the Eridivisie, this earned him a call up to the full Italian side and he followed up his scoring debut with a goal against England earlier this year.
Bologna, who returned to Serie A via the playoffs, are not optimistic about the chances of persuading Saints to part with the striker and are also keen on Inter striker Samuele Longo, Roma outcast Marco Borriello and Cagliari ace Marco Sau - who all look like more realistic targets.
