Gnohere Card Count 08/09

In honour of possibly the most leaden footed, ill disciplined, light fingered (allegedly) defender to wear the Hoops we bring you a comprehensive list of every card picked up by QPR during the 2008/09 season.

Patrick Agyemang
Yellow Cards – 1

Against: Cardiff H
Referee: Lee Probert
Reason: Late tackle on Kevin McNaughton.

Matteo Alberti
Yellow Cards – 4

Against: Charlton A
Referee: Paul Taylor
Reason: Lunge on Semedo - over keen on his first full start but did deserve a booking. The referee raced across to award it so quickly I thought he was going to send him off but a yellow was fair enough.

Against: Forest A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Pulled back Luke Chambers as he tried to meet a cros from McGugan. An obvious penalty and a needless foul as Lee Camp was favourite to get to the ball first.

Against: Burnley A
Referee: Colin Webster
Reason: Crude tackle on Chris Eagles.

Against: Cardiff A
Referee: Roger East
Reason: Bad foul immediately after coming on as a sub.

Angelo Balanta
Yellow Cards – 1

Against: Swindon A
Referee: Richard Beeby
Reason: Time wasting at the end of the match.

Dexter Blackstock
Yellow Cards – 3

Against: Bristol City A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Injury time foul against Bradley Orr.

Against: Norwich A
Referee: Rob Shoebridge
Reason: Repetitive fouling, very harsh really considering most of the time he was just contesting the ball in the air.

Against: Forest H
Referee: Fred Graham
Reason: Hauled a Forest player back to prevent him joining a counter attack, the ball didn't go out of play for several minutes afterwards so everybody was confused when the referee went back and booked Blackstock but the players understood and there were few complaints.

Akos Buzsaky
Yellow Cards – 1

Against:
 Swansea A
Referee: Anthony Bates
Reason: Fouling Darren Pratley, although it came at a time when cards were being handed out willy nilly to try and keep the partisan home crowd happy.

Radek Cerny
Yellow Cards – 1

Against:
 Birmingham H
Referee: Sturt Attwell
Reason: Wasting time in injury time at the end of the game as QPR held on to a lead.

Matt Connolly
Red Cards – 1

Against: Norwich A
Referee: Rob Shoebridge
Reason: Two bookings, see below.

Yellow Cards – 6

Against: Swindon A
Referee: Richard Beeby
Reason: Chopping down Anthony McNamee

Against: Norwich A
Referee: Rob Shoebridge
Reason: Tripped Sibierksi after getting turned on halfway, one of those you always get booked for but the Norwich man made the most of it.

Against: Norwich A
Referee: Rob Shoebridge
Reason: A quite horrendous lunge on Matt Pattison, nearly cut the man in half and could easily have been a red on its own.

Against: Swansea A
Referee: Anthony Bates
Reason: Seconds after coming on as a sub Matt gave away a free kick and then, recognising that a quick set piece could find him out of position, ran off with the ball and was yellow carded for either watsing time or technically kicking the ball away. All a bit daft really.

Against: Charlton A
Referee: P
aul Taylor
Reason: Kicking the ball away. Very harsh as he seemed to be nudging it back to the Charlton player and all the stoppage time had been played, the whistle we went straight after the throw in, so what time was he wasting exactly?

Against: Preston A
Referee: Michael Oliver
Reason: Gave the referee an ear bashing in stoppage time over the award of a corner.

Lee Cook
Yellow Cards – 6

Against: Barnsley H
Referee: Neil Swarbrick
Reason: Fouling Brian Howard, fair enough but Barnsley got away with far worse.

Against: Bristol City A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Fouling Brian Wilson.

Against: Forest H
Referee: Fred Graham
Reason: Dissent, after Forest had scored from a free kick that probably shouldn't have been given Cook told the referee what he thought of the decision. Bloody stupid.

Against: Charlton A
Referee: Paul Taylor
Reason: Farcical. Lost the ball in midfield to bailey and then chased him back into the QPR half. As he did so Semedo came across and obstructed him, Cook wrestled his wa past him but couldn't get near Bailey and play continued. 30 seconds later when the ball went out Cook was booked, seemingly for being obstructed.

Against: Blackpool A
Referee: Iain Siddall
Reason: Fouling Richard Barker - fifth booking of the season and therefore a ban.

Against: Sheff Wed H
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Foul.

Sam Di Carmine
Yellow Cards – 1

Against: Ipswich H
Referee: Trevor Kettle
Reason: Seemed to be wound up by something, slid into a crazy challenge on Alan Quinn around the halfway line then got up and squared up to the Ipswich players. Was subbed immediately after the card was shown.

Damien Delaney
Yellow Cards – 8

Against: Sheff Utd A
Referee: Graham Laws
Reason: Pushing Greg Halford after a nasty tackle by the United man.

Against: Carlisle H
Referee: Keith Hill
Reason: Crude, late tackle on Cleveland Taylor, seemed to do more damage to himself as it worked out and he was immedietely substituted.

Against: Southampton H
Referee: Kevin Friend
Reason: Foul on James.

Against: Aston Villa A
Referee: Lee Mason
Reason: Bit of a wild lunge on Craig Gardner. Everything looks like a wild lunge when you're built like Delaney though.

Against: Swansea A
Referee: Anthony Bates
Reason: Lucky not to be booked for a lunge on Gomez before picking up this card for a tackle from behind and in between those incidents the referee allowed Rowlands off with only a yellow for a very bad challenge on the keeper so the fans were screaming blue murder when this tackle went in.

Against: Charlton H
Referee: Keith Stroud
Reason: Kicked Luke Varney up in the air.

Against: Palace A
Referee: Rob Styles
Reason: Griffit spun past Delaney fifty yards out from goal wide on the Palace right and rather than have the winger bearing down on the QPR goal Delaney took the option of wrestling him to the ground and picking up the inevitable booking that followed.

Against: Preston H
Referee: Alan Wiley
Reason: Crude tackle on Ross Wallace. Deserved a booking.

Against: Burnley A
Referee: Colin Webster
Reason: Reckless lunge on Chris Eagles on the stroke of half time as he skipped around him on the touchline.

Hogan Ephraim
Yellow Cards – 2

Against:
Charlton H
Referee: Keith Stroud
Reason: Ridiculously harsh card. Kelly Youga pushed the ball past him dowh the line then ran into him. Nothing whatsoever Hogan could do about it - barely even a foul.

Against: Palace A
Referee: Rob Styles
Reason: Picked up a yellow card on the stroke of half time for a foul on Ben Watson. Ephraim’s tackle was a genuine attempt for the ball but was mistimed and possible deserved a card. However shortly before this Nick Carle had cynically chopped down Gavin Mahon after being turned and received only a warning for it – this is the sort of inconsistency from referees that frustrates players and fans.

Kaspars Gorkss
Yellow Cards – 1

Against:
 Southampton A
Referee: Mike Jones
Reason: Incredibly this was Gorkss' first booking of the entire season. It was a harsh one too, barely a foul on Saganowski and then the card came out seemingly for kicking the ball away although there was only a split second between the whistle and that and the score was 0-0 at the point - harsh.

Fitz Hall
Red Cards – 1

Against:
 Watford A
Referee: Andy Penn
Reason: Late lunging tackle on Will Hoskins, seemed a little harsh and could easily have been given a yellow. Hall was suffering at the time with a groin injury so that may go some way to explaining the lateness of the tackle.

Heidar Helguson
Yellow Cards – 4

Against:
 Plymouth A
Referee: Kevin Friend
Reason: Went into the book for a crude tackle on Chris Clark as he pushed forward from full back, although seconds earlier Chris Barker had upended Dexter Blackstock in similar circumstances without receiving a card.

Against: Watford H
Referee: Clive Penton
Reason: Watford played a short corner out to the corner of the penalty area to Tommy Smith who had been left free by the snoozing QPR defence. Spotting the danger Helguson ran back and tried to tackle the man but put in a nasty tackle and deserved a booking. Watford hit the inside of the post with the free kick.

Against: Coventry H
Referee: Keith Stroud
Reason: Lost the ball on halfway and chsed after Mifsud trying to win it back. Eventually fouled him 40 yards out from goal, got booked and Coventry scored from the free kick.

Against: Reading H
Referee: Jon Moss
Reason: Harsh. It was for repetitive fouling in his battle with Michael Duberry but the Reading man gave as good as he got and dived around the place screaming for a yellow card for the whole match.
Very few of the fouls he was accused of should have been given in my opinion.

Emmanuel Ledesma
Red Cards – 1

Against: Bristol City A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Two bookings, see below.

Yellow Cards – 7

Against: Swindon A
Referee: Richard Beeby
Reason: Kicking the ball away and generally being a pain in the arse, lucky not to be sent off later in the game for grabbing an opponent's face.

Against: Doncaster H
Referee: Mick Thorpe
Reason: Over celebrating by hugging fans in the Lower Loft. Harsh and over officious.

Against: Bristol City A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Upset at a decision going against him Ledesma threw the ball back at Jamie McAllister who allowed it to run past him and the QPR man was booked for throwing the ball away.

Against: Bristol City A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Brought back for a late tackle on McAllister even though the referee originally played on and then restarted play with a QPR throw in. Second yellow means a red.

Against: Derby County H
Referee: Anthony Taylor
Reason: Dissent, arguing over a free kick given against Daniel Parejo.

Against: Birmingham H
Referee: Stuart Attwell
Reason: Dissent, arguing over a free kick given against Daniel Parejo.

Against: Watford A
Referee: Andy Penn
Reason: Fouled John Harley down by the corner flag then roled around on the turf pretending Harley had hit him in the face. Was substituted and got a booking for his troubles on the way off. All a bit embarrassing really.

Mikele Leigertwood
Red Cards - 1

Against: Birmingham H
Referee: Stuart Attwell
Reason: A late tackle on Lee Carsley - very harsh decision.

Yellow Cards – 8

Against: Southampton H
Referee: Kevin Friend
Reason: Foul on Adam Lallana.

Against: Blackpool H
Referee: Grant Hegley
Reason: Harsh decision after a nothing foul on halfway.

Against: Birmingham A
Referee: Andy D'Urso
Reason: Went up and clashed in the air with Agustien, looked pretty nasty and the way D'Urso went for his pocket I expected a red but he settled for yellow.

Against: Swansea A
Referee: Anthony Bates
Reason: Walked past Gomez who fell to earth clutching his face. After a lengthy discussion with the linesman the referee showed a yellow card and Gomez leapt back to his feet again. Certainly isn't the first victim of the Spanish winger's play acting this season and won't be the last.

Against: Charlton H
Referee: Keith Stroud
Reason: Late tackle on Therry Racon, fifth of the season so misses Wolves at home with a ban.

Against: Doncaster A
Referee: Colin Webster
Reason: Tripped Richie Wellens up in midfield, not really a booking on its own but Colin Webster signalled that it was the latest in a series and he is normally quite a fair referee so Legs can have few complaints.

Against: Swansea H
Referee: Graham Horwood
Reason: Late tackle on Butler wide on the swansea left - led to a dangerous free kick that QPR did well to deal with. Justified.

Against: Preston A
Referee: Michael Oliver
Reason: A nothing tackle on halfway. Preston had just picked up two yellow cards which although fully justified had got the crowd on the back of the referee so Leigertwood was the victim of an evening up exercise.

Jordi Lopez
Yellow Cards – 1

Against:
 Wolves A
Referee: Jon Moss
Reason: Several niggly fouls in quick succession in the middle of the park.

Gavin Mahon
Yellow Cards – 2

Against: Coventry A
Referee: Dean Whitestone
Reason: Bad foul on Jay Tabb.

Against: Watford A
Referee: Andy Penn
Reason: Fouling Lee Wiliamson as he broke from midfield - the resulting free kick led to Watford's second goal.

Liam Miller
Yellow Cards – 1

Against:
Cardiff A
Referee: Roger East
Reason:  Poor foul on Ledley deep inside the Cardiff half. East could easily have let him off with what was his first foul of the game but it seems churlish to complain when two minutes later Mikele Leigertwood was lucky to get away with a thigh high lunge on McNaughton who subsequently required extensive treatment in the centre circle and was substituted at half time. .

Daniel Parejo
Yellow Cards – 2

Against: Doncaster H
Referee: Mick Thorpe
Reason: Dissent and failing to retreat at a Doncaster free kick.

Against: Reading A
Referee: Chris Foy
Reason: Kicking the ball away after a foul by Blackstock, looked very harsh as the whistle went only a split second before.

Peter Ramage
Yellow Cards – 3

Against: Burnley H
Referee: Andy Woolmer
Reason: Went over the ball on Chris Eagles in the first 30 seconds. This was a particularly nasty and dangerous tackle that would have brought a red card had it not happened so early in the game.

Against: Plymouth A
Referee: Kevin Friend
Reason: Plymouth sent on sprightly young sub Noone to torment Ramage late in the game and he was booked for a wild lunge on him on the edge of the penalty area. It proved to be his last action of the game as he was substituted straight afterwards.

Against: Watford H
Referee: Clive Penton
Reason: Travelling out of his own half with the ball but dallied in possession and lost out to Williamson who he then hauled down. A problem entirely of his own making.

Wayne Routledge
Yellow Cards – 2

Against: Coventry H
Referee: Keith Stroud
Reason: Off the ball argument with Clinton Morrison for which only the QPR man was booked, very harsh.

Against: Blackpool A
Referee: Iain Siddall
Reason: Kicking the ball away after a foul on Evatt although it wasn't a foul and it came only a split second after the whistle so it seemed harsh all round.

Martin Rowlands
Yellow Cards – 4

Against: Bristol City A
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Fouling Brian Wilson four minutes after coming on as a sub - harsh.

Against: Swansea A
Referee: Anthony Bates
Reason: Chased a through ball from Leigertwood down to the keeper and slid in, fracturing the goalkeeper's jaw and cheekbone in the process. A horrendous and wholly unnecessary tackle that should have resulted in a red card.

Against: Wolves H
Referee: Iain Williamson
Reason: Wolves sent on Matt Jarvis as a second half sub to chase the game and Rowlands was just one of several QPR players to have trouble with him - booked for a blatant trip as Jarvis headed for the penalty box.

Against: Watford H
Referee: Clive Penton
Reason: Late foul on McAnuff as he raced past him and into the penalty area. Blatant booking.

Damion Stewart
Yellow Cards – 4

Against:
Swansea A
Referee: Anthony Bates
Reason: Fouling Leon Britton although from behind the goal it looked like Britton had simply pushed the ball past Damion and run into him.

Against: Watford A
Referee: Andy Penn
Reason: Crude late tackle on Tamas Priskin tight to the byline.

Against: Sheff Utd H
Referee: Neil Swarbick
Reason: A very uncharacteristic rush of blood to the head. Whipped Darius Henderson's legs out from under him tight to the right touchline with the striker's back to goal and going nowhere. Stupid thing to do and obvious booking.

Against: Southampton A
Referee: Mike Jones
Reason: After going up for another poorly taken QPR set piece Stewart tangled with keeper kelvin davis as he attempted to launch a quick counter attack. Stewart was really furious about something but escaped with a yellow as the home fans screamed for red.

Adel Taarabt
Yellow Cards – 2

Against:
Bristol City H
Referee: Grant Hegley
Reason: Diving trying to win a penalty. fair enough, and Deele Adebola later got booked for the same thing, but Nicky Maynard had a more theatrical penalty appeal waved away with no comeback.

Against: Sheff Wed H
Referee: Darren Deadman
Reason: Diving trying to win a penalty again.  Bang to rights and was lucky to get away with a similar tumble moments earlier.

Damiano Tommasi
Yellow Cards – 1

Against:
Birmingham H
Referee: Stuart Attwell
Reason: Pushed over James McFadden preventing him from joining in with a counter attack. Got his card the next time the ball went out of play. McFadden was not punished for kicking out at the Italian during the same incident.
