Why Are The French Ignoring Morgan Schneiderlin

Last season Morgan Schneiderlin was the unanimous winner of all the Saints player of the year awards, but this doesn't seem to have cut any ice with Didier Deschamps.

In 2012/13 Morgan Schneiderlin was considered one of the most consistent players in the Premier League, this season he has started pretty much in the same vein, but despite starring in one of the toughest leagues in the World, he seems no nearer earning his first full International cap for France.

Its not as if the French side are excelling, although in fairness to them being in the same groups as Spain is not helping, as it stands the French are on equal points with Spain 14 having played 7 games, one more than the Spaniards, however with only one game left for Didier Deschamps side, it looks like a win in that wont be good enough to see them overtake Spain and gain automatic qualification for the finals in Brazil and that they will have to undergo the lottery of the play offs.

Despite this, for some reason Deschamps has continued to overlook Morgan and not even pick him for a squad to run the rule over him, given that the French face Australia in a friendly on Friday in a game that they will want to rest their main players ahead of the final group game against Finland on Tuesday, it seems the French boss is missing a trick.

Certainly it seems that their isn't a lot more that Schneiderlin can do to attract the eye of his International manager, a starring role for Saints along with his name being linked with the likes of Arsenal doesn't seem to have impressed Deschamps who continues to ignore him.

Schneiderlin has been capped by his Country at every single level up to U21, however that first call up to the full squad has so far eluded him.

It seems now that he will continue to be ignored and wont be able to break into the squad before the trip to Brazil assuming that the French qualify, Deschamps will probably stick with the tried and trusted in a play off situation meaning that all Morgam can hope for is that perhaps Les Bleus boss will give him a run out in one of the friendlies leading up to the World Cup.

Barring streaking naked down the Champs Elysses or parascending down the Eiffel Tower, its hard to see what more Morgan can do to bring himself to the attention of Deschamps, but perhaps Saints might reap the benefits as Morgan continues to put in some sterling performances in the Premier League in the hope that he might get that call up and be hopefully joining at least one of his teammates on boarding a flight to Brazil and a place in the World Cup Finals.
