Swans Set To Revive Zak Deal

The Evening Post is reporting that the swans are about to revive their move for Millwall's Zak Whitbread

The transfer window will open in just over a week and the Swans are being tipped to make a move for Whitbread after pulling the plug on the deal in the summer window after the player underwent surgery.

Whitbread is reported to have been due to take part in a closed doors friendly yesterday but the game was called off due to the weather.

The paper reports "The League One club keen to cash in on a player whose contract ends next summer.

"The fee being touted for the American Under-23 cap in the summer was in the region of £700,000, but the asking price is likely to have fallen given that he hasn't played all season and now has just six months left on his New Den deal.

"Swansea are likely to face competition for Whitbread's signature — he almost joined big-spending Huddersfield before the emergency loan window closed last month and they are still thought to be interested. Peterborough United agreed a fee for Whitbread last summer, while there have also been rumours of interest from Leeds."

a Millwall spokesman conceded earlier this week that Whitbread is set to leave.

"He's indicated that his future lies elsewhere and we've brought in replacements," he said.
