Saints Capture Maya Yoshida

Saints have put in one of the pieces of their jigsaw with the signing of VVV-Venlo central defender Maya Yoshida.

The tall Japanese centre half is comfortable on the ball and good with both feet meaning that its not yet clear which of our current two first choice central defenders he will replace.

Its not yet clear whether he will be available for Sunday's game against Manchester United or indeed if he is, whether Nigel Adkins will want to risk throwing him in, I would say we should go with it, Yoshida has experience in the Eridivisie a league of  a similar ilk to the Premier, if lacking in strength in depth.

Yoshida already has a European work permit so that wont be a problem, any delays will be with him being granted entry to the country not being an EU citizen, however this should be a formality, but it might delay his arrival enough to rule him out of Sunday's clash.

A little more about Yoshida's career can be found in this article on the site a week ago.
