Dale have been handed a draw in the first round of the Johnstone's Paints Trophy.

In the preliminary draw, Dale have been handed a free ride into Round Two of the Johnstone's Paints Trophy meaning a night off on Tuesday 30th August.

As well as ourselves, byes were awarded to: Chesterfield, Macclesfield Town, Morecambe, Notts County, Oldham Athletic, Preston North End, Rotherham United.

Our first game in the competition will now take place in the second round which take place on either the 4th or 5th October. No date has been announced for when that draw will take place.

Despite last season's high placed finish in League One, Dale remain with the outsiders in terms of winning the competition with odds of 33-1 being available,
