Holness to extend gold run at Spotland

Dale defender Marcus Holness has extended his contract with Dale by a further two years keeping him at Spotland until the end of the 2012-13 season.

Arguably, Holness has been the revelation of the season. Perhaps mirroring Dawson's emergence into the first team twelve months earlier, Holness has taken the opportunity created by Stanton's departure to Burton, and has made that central defensive position his own, and with that in mind, it is no surprise to see him rewarded in this way.

The former Oldham man has now made over fifty starts for the first team since he was discovered whilst on loan at Ossett Town.
