I ( and I suspect the vast majority of sensible people ) don’t want to flog the company bosses If only. We simply don’t want them to be awarded bonuses for the reasons previously stated. Apart from the last sentence your contribution was very informative. As they say “ every day is a school day”. Thanks. |

According to the B B C the company has :- 1, £16 Billion pounds of debt. 2, Has asked the water regulator to be allowed to increase consumers bills by 59% over 5 years. 3, Their record recently on allowing effluent to be pumped into waterways is worse than ever. Yet their executives have just received £770,000 in bonus payments on top of their salaries. Why did the Conservative Government allow this to happen over 14 years and equally importantly why are the current Labour Government allowing any sort of bonuses whatsoever to be paid ? I didn’t say there was an ongoing bias toward Everton toffee because let’s face it they are not a big club are they ? In truth they are much like ourselves.Currently, a not particularly large ground capacity and they haven’t won anything since the ice age. Reference the Forest game being “ a one off “. Very convenient though wasn’t it, a new large capacity ground costing millions being constructed and a financially catastrophic relegation quite possible at the time. As for Wolves yesterday. Exactly what now is the purpose of V A R other than to ensure that the big ground capacity clubs continue to remain so ? At 1-0 down their player was through on goal and pushed violently in the back by a desperate West Ham defender, yet V A R suggests all is well.Yeh,right. Throughout history it’s been proven that where there is money involved there is corruption involved, why logically should football now be immune ? |

Yep, I’ll refrain from calling it corruption. Others less kind hearted may possibly suggest otherwise. |

Surprised you don’t understand Kingsland. It’s all to do with ground size. West Ham’s ground size is much bigger than Wolves hence is of more importance to The Premiership financially for them to stay up. Don’t forget that Notts Forest had three nailed on penalties denied at Goodison not that long ago. Everton ( who at the time were in deep relegation trouble ) couldn’t be allowed to go down because they were having a massive new ground built could they ? There are multi millions swirling around in The Premiership so perhaps that’s why the smaller clubs consistently get the rough end of the stick V A R wise ? |

I won’t attend, but in all honesty the price appears reasonable compared to the upcoming Liverpool cup match. In any event why is the Swansea game a 16.30 K O ? |

As I posted elsewhere on the site:- I truly wonder if Sports Republic have failed to replace Martin because their financial position is so dire that they simply haven’t got ( or can’t borrow ) the money to do so. If I’m correct it would certainly account for their inaction to date. |

The problem is Heisenberg that a very large majority of our fans don’t read The Ugly or that apology for a journalist that contributes to The Echo. In addition many don’t bother with Blackmore’s after match ramblings on Radio Solent either. Nick attempted to make a drama about Martin’s one comment about playing the long ball. Hardly a vitriol attack on the fans was it ? Frustration on his part, yes. Something Sports Republic will take notice of ? Absolutely no chance. I do wonder if the reason Martin still remains is purely financial. Perhaps Sports Republic’s position is so dire that they simply don’t have the money to pay him off and secure a replacement ? |

That’s a little unfair on Moyes cockle, I just think he’s a boring Scot. |

I prefer realistic given that in the history of the Premiership no team with just five points at this stage of the season has avoided relegation. Should we be the first team to do so then I’ll also be the first to put my hand up and say I should have been more optimistic. |
| Forum Reply | Only one man for the job at 21:14 7 Dec 2024
And that’s exactly what Sports Republic think. We are already relegated, so as big a bunch of numpties as they undoubtedly are, they aren’t that stupid as to want p ss even more money up the proverbial wall sacking Martin and employing a replacement. They royally cocked up giving him a new three year contract and us fans are paying the price for their stupidity. Do they care ? Of course not, because the likes of Ankerson and his crew are still being healthy rewarded for failure. Thus it ever was in business. |
| Forum Reply | Only one man for the job at 20:46 7 Dec 2024
What would be the point of bringing him in ? We are already relegated and Moyes would then have to try and get us promoted from The Championship. Add in the fact that all of our promising players will be sold in the summer and there’s absolutely nothing in it for him. In any event he’s a boring Scot who’s football has always reflected his personality. |
| Forum Reply | WHY?! at 17:45 7 Dec 2024
Because there’s no point. The Owners, Board and Senior Management couldn’t give a monkeys what the fans think or do. No club in Premiership history has recovered to maintain it’s status from our current position. It’s over. Two Premiership relegations in three seasons. We march on to The Championship. Protest is futile and Sports Republic know it to be so. |

We have had differences in the past Ifonly with strongly held opposing views. However, on this one you are 100% correct, particularly in reference to goals scored against us. That said, TBH will not be a Saints player at the start of next season so it’s pretty irrelevant what he says now to be honest. |
| Forum Reply | Russell Martin Go Now Or Stay at 09:35 6 Dec 2024
That’s the problem with our Owners and Senior Management Heisenberg. They are not remotely interested in how we go down to The Championship. To them it’s just a business and what you and I think is to them totally irrelevant. No passion and no soul plus very little interest in football for any of them. |
| Forum Reply | Russell Martin Go Now Or Stay at 07:30 6 Dec 2024
Impeccable logic Southamptonfan as were your previous posts on this subject. What amazes me are the number of contributors who still think that replacing Russell Martin will suddenly give us a chance of avoiding relegation, even if we could find another manager daft enough to take the job on. For pity sake, don’t they realise that we only have five points on the board a fortnight or so from Christmas ? Sports Republic are a proven bunch of total incompetents, but even they aren’t stupid enough to waste up to another £10 million in a reckless attempt to avoid an obviously irretrievable situation. |

Very pleasing to see a table which shows Boscombe (and Fulham) above the so called big clubs, Newcastle, Spurs and Manchester Utd. Perhaps someone needs to have a word with those who officiate V A R so in future matters return to their natural status quo ? |
