Jimmy Dunne - undroppable
at 13:13 2 Sep 2024

As much as I’d hate to see Dunne dropped, not playing loan players is a risky one. We’ve got a great relationship with Newcastle for example which will have helped us get this landed and also Hayden last year. Who could turn out to be the first of many. If we don’t give Ashby a fair go risk them turning the tap off.

Likewise other prem teams will usually favour loaning to teams who play their budding starlets or shop windows their driftwood.

Depends on the kid and the game I’d say. Took daughter at 4 ,who’s never liked football, to 1st win away at Forest - she had a ball and loved the atmosphere. Flip side 4 year old football mad boy was bored to tears at Brighton pre-season!

I’m not sure I agree. I’d say he has been pretty solid at right back. Yep a quick, tricky winger will give him problems, but same goes with a lot of right backs. He has been much much better at right back than he was at centre back. For what he offers in both boxes and the infectious passion he brings to the table I’d be v disappointed if he went back to the bench. Plus as has been pointed out he can beat a man and looks to play progressively.

Saw him pre season and he looked fitter, sharper, better able to press. He gives everything, link up play is good and now he’s scoring. Making of a cult hero.

1st one that came to my mind too. Remember having it explained to me as a kid - would have been late 80’s?

Not going, but it’s the one week a year I get involved horse betting. Usually a few resident experts I follow on here. Anyone got any tips?

Yep, agreed. Bit of momentum, coming off decent performances, love the line, up strong bench. They’re struggling.

Ground set for a dire performance and abject defeat!

Or, have we genuinely turned a corner - hope so!

No Sam Field

Field is tenacious, works hard and is really good at breaking up play. Same time he gives far too many needless free kicks away in dangerous areas and offers nothing going forward. Makes darting runs into space, demands the ball dramatically and then passes back to whoever passed it, but not in a way that creates space! I was looking forward to see how we went without him which says it all.

Ainsworth came in and tried to get the team playing direct football and we couldn’t do it as don’t have the players.

Marti has come in and tried to get us to play total passing football and we can’t do it as we don’t have the players.

I’m not sure what form of football we have the players for other than losing football.

No idea if we can make it happen financially, but if we can, would seem to make sense to have a total clear out of the type of players that don’t fit into whatever we are aiming for as a club and then go get some that will.

Not sure if I can watch Dunne play out the back much longer. Or cope with 17 passes from a goal kick, 3 of which nearly get intercepted, manage to get to half way and then play another 6 backwards ending up with someone passing it back to keeps.

I think he did this for Newcastle and after us at Burnley. He was mainly useless for us. Thought he was beckham, made Karl Henry look like Pirlo. Shit at football, gobshite, disrespectful the club, ego big as a house. The support for him from our supporters has always baffled me!

Deft touches, round the corner passes, good control and can beat a man. Their goal started off with his sloppy header though and at the end the crowd was on his back after he didn’t seem to have legs or desire to chase after an over hit through ball. He’s not fit, or at least match fit, but does look like there is a player there.

Strong recommend. Went to a stag do (late 30’s early 40’s)there couple of years ago and had a brilliant time. There are lakes nearby with activities and bars are great. We had a local as one of the group which made a big difference, but even so will def go back with family over next few years.

Only listened to it last night. When talking about shabby treatment of the youngsters (beyond the warburton jab) he touched on senior pros having been esp unwelcoming. Guessing whoever that was about will have left the club now, had you heard that before?

Attacking wise we've got Willock, Chair, Smyth, Dykes, Armstrong, Kolli, Kelman, Adomah.

I don't hate it.

Willock to Boro latest Twitter rumour

Without knowing insider info I think fair to assume that Willock isn’t drawn to Ainsworth’s fuc* possession direct football and has checked out.
Also fair to say that having checked out its best to sell up now.
He’s not hustly bustly, whereas chair, smyth, Armstrong and dykes all are. Square peg round hole etc. interesting to see if he kicks on from here.

If it’s the same one - pretty sure it is - he’s an adventure on an away day. Unafraid of upsetting the locals, or anyone else! To be travelling the length and breath at his age on his own is incredible!

Dunne will be Dunne regardless, blood and guts puts his head in, loud - don't think you lose anything not having him captain. Field has an old head, seems to enjoy team mates respect and given Captain might be a bit more vocal than he would otherwise be.

Was champ the one with four squares and a ball? If so used to play it at Brackenbury Primary school in the 80's- can't remember the rules though!

Ainsworth ranked last on The Second Tier Podcast.

Thanks for sharing - good watch. I like his passion, his communication and really, really hope he gets us going this season. He’s 100% isn’t he. Made me think of Redknapp in a portacabin going through that days runners and riders, moaning about his knee and plotting his next mega waged big name waster. At least Ainsworth will give everything he’s got.
