My old mate Harry, sadly gone used to deliver in Chiswick and had Sheila Hancock on his round. He used to tell me there’s an offence of Impersonating A Postman. Was he pulling my leg ?
I know we've a postie or two on here. Denmark stopping letter deliveries after this year. Posties have been a lifeline to many folk over the years. Even some folksongs written about 'em - “what a wonderful man the postman is” and, “ the post has got to get through” Hope it won't be the same here, but I expect it will be.
I'm a friend of Fuller's and used to get a few free pints on my birthday. Also, on the brewery’s birthday you could get some pints a penny for each year. For example, £1.70 a pint on their 170th birthday and so on and so forth. Tight gits don't do it any more.
Following on from DM's thread about London Pride’s deterioration, I had occasion to visit the Distillers in Hammersmith. I was given a (short) pint of Pride which was thin and ice cold. I thought I'd get HSB or ESB next but then saw that of the six handpumps, Pride was the only Fuller's ale. I remember when they sold the brewing arm to Asahi, they said they'd guarantee to stock Fuller's for five years. Is the five years up ? What's it like in the C&S?
Just a thought….the Beatles went fairly quickly from an energetic pop group to relatively complex stuff. How much was down to George Martin, did he arrange as well as produce ?
