| Forum Reply | Joe Lewis better than Gilks at 08:32 4 Sep 2014
Gilks was a good servant, no doubt, but his inadequacies as a keeper were there for all to see. Kicking and crosses, bread and butter for goalkeepers, he was poor with. Whenever the opposition had a corner or got into a decent crossing position I feared for us, likewise whenever there was a pass back from a defender a sharp intake of breathe was audible around the ground. |
| Forum Reply | Just what can be done to get rid of the Oystons? at 08:28 4 Sep 2014
It has been done to death but my personal opinion is hit them in the pocket.... Hard. This is one of the reasons I have not renewed. I know around 3-4k have also taken this stance but for this to be really effective we need to be playing in front of 2-3k gates. This I believe is the only action that can have an effect. Imagine the dramatic decrease in revenue, not only from ticket sales but everything else in the ground, not to mention the embarrassment and extra media coverage. The Oystons will have to start putting money back into the club just to pay the overheads and that is where I believe, they will pack it all in as it is no longer a cash cow. It will take an awful lot of willpower from people to do this, I know a lot of people believe this stance means turning your back on your club but I believe a bit of short term pain is required for the long term future of our club. Mark my words we are going backwards at a rate of knots with the Oystons here and as long as people carry on handing over money to them BFC will always be their 'cash cow'. |

Exasperated is the perfect word to describe how I feel with the position the football club is in at the moment. There is an air of inevitability that we are going down already, the manager seems to be sticking around just to get at the chairman and the chairman, well, quite frankly does not give a toss. The worst thing is there doesn't seem any sign/hope of change. |

My opinion is he's been hung out to dry by Oyston. Something is not quite right with the whole scenario, how can you not remember to register players, one of them, zenjov who has been with us one of the longest (2 weeks!!). I can't put my finger of it but I'm inclined to,think the worst in Karl as he's never given me a reason to think otherwise |

Good o/p, it is clear what the Oystons intentions are, if you cannot see it by now you are not an optimist, you are a deluded fool. It seems Riga has worked out the o's quite quickly but seems to have a stubborn streak himself. For me though it is only a matter of time before Karl pushes him too far and he walks. |
| Forum Thread | Doing the bare minimum to get by... at 16:34 6 Aug 2014
As expected the signings are trickling through now as they had too, but Karl hasn't changed his ways one bit. - we still only buy from the bargain bin, free transfers, out of contract desperadoes or loans. Some people can argue there is nothing wrong with this approach but we are seriously limiting our options by employing this method. - why wait until the last 10 days of pre-season to do this? I would suggest this is Karl and his unique way of saving the family money. The longer he takes to employ footballers the less in wages he pays over the summer. - 1 year deals. We (Karl) could get lucky and uncover a couple of absolute gems and there could be high demand for them next summer, as they are on 1 year deals Karl will miss out on a big transfer fee as he has with so many others ( good business man my arshhhe). This method also ensures that come this time next year we will be back to square one again. Yet again zero investment of our clubs fortunes have been invested into the team, the players are still having to jump in their time machine back to the fifties every day at training whilst the Oystons are buying mansions and paying themselves millions. I won't be getting giddy about signings, like some, as signing players is the absolute bare minimum of the chairmans repsonsibilities. |
| Forum Reply | Anyone regretting not renewing? at 09:04 6 Aug 2014
I think the shambolic way the pre-season has been handled has justified the decision not to renew. Even if the pre-season had been, let's say, more textbook I still would not regret it as the Oystons are still in charge. I took the decision not to renew as i couldn't stand the thought of my hard-earned going to the Oystons any longer, I support Blackpool FC not owners who are intent on making themselves super-rich at the expense of the fans and the Football club. I respect anyone's decision to renew (members of my immediate family have done), it's a personal preference, although I feel by doing so you are giving the Oystons the green light to continue bleeding the club dry. I guess some people can't do without their fortnightly fix or they don't really think the Oystons have done much wrong. |

Do they have more than a 15 man squad though, and a goalkeeper? |

Thumbs up from me, has a more modern feel. The old fans online format has had its day, it will be difficult for some to get their head around but they will eventually. Well done AVFTT. |

My old username was too long to register with this site so I've had to alter it slightly. Seems quite appropriate for this season!! |
