New Year’s Frey delight for resurgent Rangers – Report
at 12:54 3 Jan 2025

In theory all our January league matches are 'winnable' in that you look at them and think realistically we could do that. Obviously this is the Championship and anyone can beat anyone but I genuinely think we could get 15 points in January. Imagine the play-off fever!

If I were Watford, I'd just give it to Chakvetadze.

Any team with the prefix Wayne Rooney's.

Ashby was fantastic yesterday - if he can perform like that consistently, then he's definitely worth keeping.

Thought he was excellent yesterday as he has generally been for the last couple of months. But yes, shooting practice required - he seems to rush his shots, so maybe needs to relax and pick his spot.

Watford - giving it the biggun’

And only really became successful in any way under Graham Taylor. Same delusions of grandeur as their former heavyweight striker Troy 'Yes, I did eat all the pies' Deeney.

Kieran Morgan - Looks So Comfortable.
at 23:59 1 Jan 2025

Just so good today. Never stops running and can really pick a pass. I get that the Premier League is another level but seems strange that Spurs would release him on a free like that as he's looked so comfortable in this league from his first appearance. They must have some decent talent there!

Yeah, fair play to him. Two decent performances after the Swansea horrorshow when he looked totally shot. Weird player as he has generally been okay for us but has also thrown in two of the worst individual performances I've seen this season. Marti clearly likes him.

Let's put this to bed...

Like others I've been critical of his end product but he's been a lot more effective recently. Had a decent shot today which looked like it was on target but was blocked. Love that he wears his heart on his sleeve too and clearly loves kicking towards The Loft.

Thought that was Ashby's best match for us. Started slightly shakily but really stepped up today and passed to a Rangers player more often than not!

Will it still be windy at 12.30? Could make a difference in terms of ends and starting line-ups if it's advantageous for only one half. Think Marti will start with a strong line-up and try and wrap the game up before making any changes. I can see Frey starting as he's on the preview pics (not a perfect science, mind).

Promotion to the Premier League is tough. But is survival effectively impossible?
at 12:18 31 Dec 2024

It was always naive to think that we could simply have a ready-made conveyor belt of young talent to power us up the leagues. Let's face it, this was Les and Fernandes, so hardly the brains trust. Much better to have a balance - the odd youth product (Kolli), cast-offs from Premier League academies (Morgan), bargains from Europe (Nardi) and Championship experience (Cook). Les's approach was always unrealistic and Fernandes bought into it after all the Premier League expenditure. We've clearly gone too far on the European market recently, so hopefully lessons are learned and we can get the balance right in the future. I'd also like us to sign more players from Leagues 1 and 2 - there must be bargains there!

Not saying it's easy, and Brentford and Brighton are the outliers in finding the formula, but I do feel the club is starting to see that it's unrealistic to expect a goldmine of youth talent for a club of our size these days. Look at City, who have a goldmine yet inexplicably sold the biggest nugget to one of their rivals.

Salah, as good as it gets

Magnificent player. Old school too as he seems to be enjoying himself on the pitch rather than spending the match snarling.

Still hilarious that Chelsea sold both him and De Bruyne, arguably the two best players of the Premier League's modern era.

Have they sacked Rooney yet? Jeez, if you're losing to Oxford and keeping your job, you're bulletproof.

All winnable games tbh.
