We'll find out on Wednesday. The forecast is for Stockton to not get above freezing all day Tuesday and Wednesday - but it will be sunny on both days. It will be -5c by 9pm on Wednesday. The positive is that it will be dry and so there shouldn't be much to freeze.

Tell me about it, I have travelled to Rochdale 3 times so far this season for nothing. Didn't make the same mistake today.

I see that the tickets from today won't be valid and will need to be refunded. Stockton will issue tickets from Monday at their normal prices - which are marginally higher than todays. I can only assume they had little confidence of the game going ahead today and had already agreed with Stockton to switch it as a precaution. I guess their pitch guarantees it will go ahead - Hartlepool a few miles up the road is off due to frozen pitch. It is certainly cold (albeit sunny) in the north east.

We deserve some detailed explanations on what can now be done and why they think it will work. And have they a plan to hire special covers over the next few months. And will the club be offering free transport to Stockton on Wednesday for those prepared to go. Play offs will be at serious risk if the fixtures back up any more than they have already

They are leaving at 11.30am so there is time to make a decision. As I see it - if it is frozen today, it will still be frozen at 9.30am. Unless miracles happen. No idea whether the pitch was covered or not.

As for the Wolves under 21s next Tuesday - move it to next Saturday when we are free. Gives the pitch time to recover and a day time game has to be better than a night game in these temperatures for the pitch. Their under 21s should be flexible

Beware the Town!

We have barely sold 300 tickets for this game as yet. This is what happens when the fans have no confidence whatsoever that the game will go ahead. Does anybody believe it will?

I do agree with you by the way. We must be able to sell 2000 home tickets for this given we.ve been starved of Saturday football at home for so long

To be fair they announced the cup ticket details before Christmas, before the good away win. And we haven't even sold 100 tickets in the home ends as yet. I suspect somebody has made the decision that the game won't be popular.

Until the club has somebody senior that has responsibility for fan engagement they will keep making the same mistakes.

We are playing Stockton Town next Saturday.

I have noticed that they have sold half their allocation already. It is a big game for them and I was surprised they have been put in the Pearl Street. I suspect they will sell out and need to be moved.

Pitch inspection 10.30
at 20:55 22 Dec 2024

The thing that grates me 49th is the lack of respect for the paying customer. How many people travelled to the game yesterday and wasted their hard earned cash. Boston fans had two coaches booked. They must have known on Friday night that the pitch wasn't draining. The ref was Liverpool based and he miraculously appeared at the ground for a 10.30am inspection. He must have been asked to come early the night before as he wasn't based in a local hotel. Why would he have left home around 8.30am for a 60-90 minute journey unless somebody had asked him to do it the night before? Yet we are just expected to soak up a standard message that the game is off and we should expect to turn up when they can rearrange it . No apology, no suggestion on what they need to do. We know the £500k spent in the pitch in 2020 hasn't worked - so what is the plan. Why wasn't the refunded fees from the supplier of the pitch been used to at least buy some rain covers? This is the second fixture we have had to postpone and it has cost me almost £500 in accommodation and travel costs. I am simply taken for granted, as is everybody else. I want the Trust to fight for the fans. Not roll over and have my belly tickled.

Of course what I really want is the two Chairs to read the riot act to the Exec who thought the annoucement yesterday was acceptable with a detailed explanation of where the pitch is and what they can do about it. We are not a community/fan led club when the club can't be arsed. Is anybody going to take a chance on buying tickets ahead of the day for the Alty or Stockton games if it rains in the next 3 weeks? Of course not.

Rant over. What else is the Trust for if it isn't to be in the know and challenge on behalf of the fans in real time? And finally, I have never believed that Murray can be held accountable in his 'token' role on the Board. It has to be a paid exec who is responsible, and accountable, for fan engagement. The two Chairs need to be clear on what that looks like.

The speed at which their rich owner is spending his cash means he won't be rich for much longer. Thier council paid for the pitch to facilitate the rugby club going back to Boundary Park. What could possibly go wrong? Anyway, £7m of accumulated losses in just over 2 years isn't sustainable.

Same here - another 300 mile round trip and overnight stay for nowt. It is becoming too hard to follow Dale nowadays. And too ruddy expensive. The new Chair needs to reflect on whether he should allow McNulty to keep signing players when the basics can't be delivered. Some rain covers are needed if the pitch that cost more than half a million is really this bad. I note from the accounts that the money refunded from the supplier is peanuts compared to this fiasco - at least spend that on hiring some covers.

I think we all knew that by instinct, but that table brings it alive. Can Jim find a raw talent in non league somewhere that wants a chance to prove himself up top. Or do we have a good scholar that we can use for the last 20 minutes to have a go. No fear and all that. Bigger teams than Dale have been doing that a lot recently.

But you have recorded £7m of accumulated losses since the shed builder takeover. Heavens knows what the playing budget is given you have higher income than Dale. It will all end in tears when Frankie runs out of cash.

Shareholders AGM 2024
at 08:52 15 Dec 2024

The shareholders have been asked to keep the accounts confidential and so I will respect that request. For all the disappointment on the way the AGM will be held, and the decision to stop auditing the accounts, the detail around costs and expenditure was more transparent than I think we have ever seen. You can see just how much the two relegations have cost us and how revenue from away fans has fallen now we are non league. I was also surprised that the playing budget last season was a low as it was. There is so much potential to drive income up through success on the field. When we compare the data from 4 years ago, it is chalk and cheese. But I certainly welcomed the transparency in the AGM pack.

Disappointing really when you consider the manager has been backed with more cash beyond the planned budget to bring players in. As others have said, too many players and no consistency. Of course 6 points from the next two games and there will be smiles once again. But we shouldn't paper over the cracks. We are not entertaining to watch and we are not winning enough to drive punters into the ground. There's always next year.

Indeed that is better news. He was within a couple of miles of one of the best cardiac hospitals in the UK so he will be well cared for.
