5 things from liverpool 11:49 - Mar 9 with 904 views1ASIN12

1. it’s a very easy journey around 4 hours and the ground is very easy to find
2. Plenty of parking though you’ll need to look around as there were 2 car parks next to each other one charge £20 the other £15
3. Easy to get a drink in a little pub 10-15 mins walk from the ground .
4. Hate to say it but my last 3 visits I have to say it’s got one of the best atmosphere from the home fans - makes it easier when you win and have plenty of songs to sing .
5. I find it easier to get away from Anfield than Goodison and back on the motorway by 5:50 .

1. Trains up were hideous. The Cross Country to Brum was bad enough with it’s usual 5 carriages, but the the West Midlands service to Liverpool only had 4 (with one working toilet) and was as packed as I’ve ever been on once it hit Stafford and half the kop got on. Much better and more relaxing going home.
2. Headed down to the waterfront pre-match for a change and had a lovely couple of hours sat outside in the sunshine at a pub in the Albert Dock.
3. Plenty of public transport to and from ground which was easy and well run.
4. The away end was by far the worst I’ve ever been in. Hardly any faces I recognised, no attempt to sing anything and multiple people filming “Trent” taking corners and the Salah penalties. There were clearly lots of people in our end not there to support Southampton.
5. Best atmosphere from Liverpool fans I’ve witnessed at Anfield as usually very flat.

Re 4. Exactly why I didn't go. People say, aren't we great selling out the away end. No, it's just a load of tourists and Liverpool fans from the south buying up tickets, that our fans aren't buying. Good riddance to the premeier league.

Re. 5 - They are what 13 points clear? They managed to create an atmosphere as they are about to win the league.

And to top.it off, Pompey look decent and that crowd at Fratton are something else. The whole ground standing up hanging over the advertising boards. We will have to.sort out our sh!t.

Whatever we say about Pompey they know how to support their club, The majority of the crowd were young males. Compare that with our tourist fans on their mobiles with their half-and-half scarves. And sat down, sipping their coco.

There were a few Liverpool fans in the away end, but the majority of fans were still Saints supporters, so that is still 2,800 Saints fans buying tickets and going and there were no tourists in our sections at Ipswich and Nottingham Forest recently.

Re 5, The atmosphere at kick off was extraordinary, all the flags and scarves and banners on the kop, after that it settles down a little as they have so many one off fans in the ground, but every now and then they got going and it was impressive.

1. Getting out of the centre of town to the ground about 1.15 was chaos, the queue for the special buses was 200 yards long, but there were a lot of buses so probably not a long wait. Taxis were even harder to find.

2. The away concourse is strange, you still have the old cramped bit, but behind it there is a big open concourse with nothing in it.

3. I have never seen so many stewards at a football match, most of them doing nothing, as we came out of the ground there was an unbroken line of stewards about 30 yards long with nothing behind them, they seemed to have no use at all.

4. Getting back into town about 6pm was just as bad, Anfield has little public transport that goes past the ground, the nearest train station is over a mile away and the nearest main bus routes about 1/2 mile away.

5. Liverpool fans from Merseyside are hacked off at the tourists, few of them have got tickets for the League cup final next week, apart from about 2,000 ring fenced die hards, the ballot was open to season tickets holders and members, meaning that a season ticket holder who had been to every game, had the same chance of a ticket for the final as a Liverpool fan in Australia who had never been to England let alone a Liverpool game

More and more of our fans moan about the hardships of being a Saints fan, but I'd absolutely hate to support a club like Liverpool. Yes they win things, but at what cost? I know we've got a lot of bellends that support us, but if you're a proper match-going fan from Liverpool having to put up with that nonsense all the time, the frustrations must be off the scale.

I've seen Solent Toffee say how the town centre turns into Disneyland for the weekend when Liverpool play at home and I totally get it. The amount of Irish/Scandinavian/Chinese I saw spilling out of hotels and waiting for taxis etcs, all decked out in full merch was quite something.

Obviously Man Utd have always been the original glory hunter club, but City and practically all the London clubs have a growing problem with their clubs pandering to tourist fans, which just adds to the proper shit show the Premier League has become. I don't get why people are so obsessed with us being in it.
