Colchester weather on Saturday will be 12 degrees Celsius, breezy and 77% precipitation. None of which is good news for the surface of the pitch. At home it will be dry and 10 degrees but breezy.
15 games to play and we are probably looking at 30 more points to secure a top seven position. 10 more victories or equivalent will garner 72 points which should be enough.

Johnny Jackson brings his Dons to the JCS having already lost in the Vertu Motors trophy after defeating us 4-2 on the opening game of the season.
It will be like an old boys reunion with Owen Goodman, Riley Harbottle, John Joe O’Toole and Alastair Smith in the Wimbledon ranks. They will also have about 1200 supporters to swell a likely 6,000 crowd.
Two tough games on the road elicited two draws but we should have had more at both Carlisle and at Notts County.
DC needs to show more adventure in his line ups. I agree with the first 7 players. Macey, Egbo, Kells, Flanagan, Iandolo and McDonnell and Bishop.
I also agree with Payne and Edwards but whilst DC loves Anderson I would like to see Thorn or Gordon. In fairness Thorn is probably injured and Samson Tovide is still two weeks away from a welcome return.
Then we have the thorny issue (no pun intended) of Simpson and Taylor. Simpson started against Notts County and should have scored twice in the first half but fluffed his lines he then scored the equaliser by being in the right place at the right time. He certainly worked hard and just when I thought DC would keep him on when Taylor arrived he was withdrawn.
Whether DC likes it or not when Samson is fit he must play two up top. Whether that is Taylor and Tovide or Simpson and Tovide or Taylor remains to be seen.
Of course, we may have Anthony Scully available and Kyreece Lisbie or Ken Aboh all of whom should be considered.
So, DC will likely start with:
Macey
Egbo Kells Flanagan Iandolo
McDonnell Bishop
Anderson Payne Edwards
Simpson
Subs; Smith, KVY, Aboh, Read, Gordon, Tucker, Taylor
We owe Wimbledon after the opening day and I expect to see a 3-1 home victory with Taylor on the scoresheet and possibly Simpson and Jack Payne (long overdue free kick).
Enjoy the game. A decent crowd and three more home points.

A game we really should have won. Dominant in the first half only to concede in the Wombles only attack. More frustration in the second half, but we score once DC goes two up front with Tovide paired with Taylor. Funny that…….

Not funny really. Anyone with half a brain should know that two up front will bring a positive result, especially if the two up front are Taylor and Tovide Simples..

Anderson had a slight injury and passed a fitness test but DC decided to rest him and use other options available to him, I suspect he will be back for the next game.

Gordon had his best game so far. However DC trusts a player he knows, who without the ball will track back and fill the space behind , Anderson gives that when fit . The squad this season has been more proactive in regaining possession than that of the past. Work off the ball is just has vital has having the ball . Has the league position states, we are in a better places from several seasons because of the above and strangely we now have the unfamiliar situation of hoping lower sides nick points from those in the top positions !

Aren’t our home, away and third strips all sponsored by RC’s company HotLizard, with Peach Guitars on the sleeve?
We should have lent them a kit, then both teams would be wearing RC's company name.
Yes, you're right. For some reason I thought we had different short sponsors on all three kits but they're all Hot Lizard. Didn't know this was a Cowling company either.

I agree with what you say about the importance of work without the ball. Where I part company with you is because I think Gordon is equally good out of possession. Anderson is always getting knocked off the ball by stronger, more physical opponents. I think Gordon handles that aspect of the game better too. You are definitely right about the Cowleys trusting players they know, but that hasn't stopped some of them from being dropped or sent out on loan. For some reason, that doesn't seem to apply to Anderson.

I think we must watch a completely different Anderson play as I think the physicality he brings to the team is one of his strongest attributes. I would say he's one of our tougher and more physical players and you think he's one of our weakest. I haven't seen much from Gordon in terms of strength when I've seen him play.

Anderson has made 24 league appearances, including 15 starts. One goal and no assists. Gordon has 30 appearances, with 12 starts. Two goals and no assists. So I must be missing something about Anderson, including his physicality and off the ball work. Maybe his tracking data is outstanding, but that's only part of the story. It's very subjective, but he consistently fails to impress me, save for glimpses of ability here and there.
