I wonder if he’s still “meticulous”?

He probably thought he got Hughes a job managing Belinda

First ever sighting of 'lucky' and 'Carlisle' in the same sentence.

The guy who once thought he was too good for anything but the PL.

Reality is a bitch.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Not even a decent league 2 manager. He wasn't good enough for Bradford, now sitting in 7th since he was sacked, so he's not going to be good enough for rock bottom Carlisle. He'd better start looking up how to play Tamworth, Braintree and Solihull Moors next season.

I hope they stay up. When I lived in lockerbie I got a job as a steward at Carlisle. decent bunch of fans and ever since looked out for their results.

I would rather have Beale back than him.

Awful news for Carlisle.
They have a great set of loyal fans, whose company I have enjoyed on many a train journey to and from Euston over the years.
They deserve better.

Second for me. First time was when they had Stan Bowles playing for them.

On a rolling contract. His downward spiral continues.

They'll never be bottom of the league again!

Never knowingly right.

Just to make your head really hurt - Hughes or Redknapp?

Spelling mistake - should read Carlisle and 'plucky'.

He has never been relegated in his whole managerial career but he’s seen loads in his rear view mirror.

So Carlisle were the successful candidate after their interview with him.

Jaroobchian may not even notice the 10% of that role's salary going into his bank account every month. I'm sure the timing of it was deliberately delivered just after the transfer window closed.

I hadn't even realised he'd been sacked by Bradford nearly 2 years ago!

Pretty sure ive even looked out for their results since then and had some smug satisfaction they'd lost ….. and he wasn't even there!

A year after the Grundy Pistols thing I was having a day off school and put the telly on late morning and there was Grundy all on his own presenting a schools geography programme in the middle of a huge empty quarry in the middle of nowhere, Cumbria. And since then I’ve always thought Cumbria, that’s where you get sent when you’ve been bad. Mark Hughes:What a fcuking rotter!

Redknapp. That's how much I despise Hughes. I would also take Houston, Rioch, Paul Hart, Hasselbaink and even Wayne Rooney over Hughes.

I believe that it was Hughes above all else that happened in that disasterous 4 season period that caused the almost terminal decline in QPRs fortune.

I thought after he left that it would take us 10-15 years to recover from the harm his peiord in charge had caused. Rednapp was awful but Hughes was far far far worse.

Thanks for putting it all in perspective Nix, I’d forgotten how awful that period really was!

I just read on the BBC site that Carlisle "...sacked head coach Mike Williamson on transfer-deadline day having allowed him to sign 11 players during the window."

That's just madness.
