Ashby injured or hooked? 22:02 - Jan 21 with 3235 viewsBeckenhamhoop

Unfortunately I missed about 10 minutes of the match after Ashby came on. So, for those that saw it all, was he injured or hooked and if he was hooked, why?

He took a knock, whether that forced him off I do not know but MC soon replaced him.

Posters moan about Marden but Ashby is a lot, lot worse.

Looked injured to me. He was poor today, but his passing is no worse than Sam Field

I reckon he was OK and Marti hooked him. He might have been clipped but I think he would have wanted to stay on.

I don't have any issue with it.

He took a knock but there’s no way anyone else would have been subbed in that same situation.
It was just a your usual mistimed challenge he would have run off after 30 seconds.
He was absolutely woeful - must have given the ball away every single time

Let's be honest about this. He was hooked after he took a knock that he would've run off after a minute. He was very poor. Off the pace, giving the ball away, and still trying tricks and flicks that he has no business trying. The boy just doesn't learn.

Really not a fan of Ashby I’m sure he has 50 pence shaped boots I have no idea how he manages to get his passing so consistently wrong.

captains fantastic
Poll: SWEET F'IN CAROLINE. Played every half time

Hooked . Was an utter liability and gave the ball away every single time he had it.
The party line will be a knock or a strain and of course that might be the case . But before the sub there was no sign ( that I saw anyway ) of a knock or limping around or trying to run something off).

He was going to lose us the victory and I think MC had to do something . And by and large we soebt injury time looking more comfortable again.

Shame but maybe he needs to take a back seat for a week or 2 and then try again. He’s gone at the moment .

He picked up a knock and was substituted. We were under the cosh and couldn’t afford to risk an injured player on the pitch when we still had a substitution left to use.
Don’t think Cifuentes would humiliate any of his players by subbing them on and off like that but a few seem to think they know better.

Let me say this, if he was playing well he would not have been subbed, knock or no knock. The knock was not anything much

I said after his performance at Leicester that I can not believe that Hevertton is any worse than Ashby and todays comments just seem to reinforce my opinion.

For me, I don't really care. We won the game.

Smells like a trout farm in here

As I said before, I think he was hooked. But there is one mitigating factor. He was asked to come on in Smyth's position and keep things going. I don't really see any signs of being able go past players or pass and move from him so I'm a little bit bemused why Marti keeps on trying this.

I would suggest that he was not asked to do what Smyth does.....MC does know his players and what they can & cant do!!!

It’s a difference of opinion Ned.
Are we not allowed to disagree with you .

You think it’s a knock . I think he was hooked .
I don’t know anymore than you and you don’t know anymore than me .

It’s just our opinions differ.
Why the dig at people who dare to have a different opinion than you?

Quite bizarre tonight - I thought the introduction of Lloyd and Saito changed the game - but the introduction of Madsen and Ashby had the reverse effect. We lost control at that point - personally, I'd have rather seen Colback on for the kid Morgan, rather than Ashby or Madsen to shore things up a bit. The last ten minutes were unnecessarily scary...

And why are you digging out my opinion then?

He was clearly whacked by a Hull player: he flew up in the air l, landed heavily and was still lying on the floor when the guy who fouled him got in his face. Was limping afterwards.

I trust Marti’s opinion that he was injured rather than your opinion that he was hooked.
If that upsets you then so be it. I literally don’t care and am more than happy with another good win rather than scapegoating one of our players tonight.

What did he do right?
He strolled through the game just so lazy and our press completely went again when he came on. Him and Ashby were so poor

For balance I thought Chair was rubbish as well

Tell me where I ‘dug’ your opinion out.
You didn’t read my post at all .

It’s the “ a few on here seem to think they know better” nonsense .
No one thinks they know better than anyone else .

Fighting weird battles that don’t exist again Ned.

Surely that HAS to be it for Ashby at our club?

He started the move that gave Dull City a route back into the game; but doesn’t he always.
There must be some way we can cancel this loan this month?
I’m amazed anyone can see anything positive about this fella, he’s up there with the worst defenders I’ve ever seen play for us (and he’s in good company there)

Let’s have it right; we all know Sir James of the Dunne clan has now 1,000% reinvented himself as our marauding right back; so anyone else is cover. I’d take Santos as that man if only because we own him and, as bad as some things are he’s done, he’s done okay in patches.

Two brilliant subs followed up by two woeful ones last 15 mins.
I hope Marti did hook Ashby but if he did then I’m more mystified why he didn’t at HT v Leicester in the cup?????

If Ashby has an Agent looking after him then I hope he’s been advising him to invest in property these last couple of years since he stole that Geordie contract

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Judging by your sly dig at others on the board, you seem to think that you know better. I watched the match and I know what I saw. Even the commentator spent 2 minutes criticising Ashby. Naturally, you're entitled to your own opinion (even a wrong one) but draw the line there.
