I had to do Latin and when that stopped they considered I was too behind so no point in doing Welsh. I don't want the language to die but if there is enough interest it will survive without a leg up. Schools in Wales are badly in need of funding, we struggle to recruit teachers, building are falling apart, isn't that more worthy of a leg up and that's before we egt to the NHS and saving peoples lives. |
Same in England, Cat. Just different languages taught. If it’s saving money in education I can think of a pretty long list that would come before cutting languages. I won’t though as if I get on my high horse I bore the pants of everyone!

Well it seems as if there is more interest in learning Spanish or German or other European languages. You spout off mate, with all the blather we are guilty of on here (myself included) it'll do us good sometimes to have an opinion from someone who actually has to work inside the system.

Why do they need to improve them? They are in their own country and speaking their native tongue, nothing wrong with that. I did French and Welsh in School, used my basic French for 35 seconds once in over 50 years and I’m a pretty well traveled person. Use my Welsh nearly every day.

Dear God,why are you so defensive I read theribEngkish wasn’t very good. Now,considering the lingua Franca of the vast majority of this island and that of commerce worldwide ,I would have thought it obvious So,yeas, they should improve ,otherwise, they miss out At a disadvantage if you like Why do you see this debate as a personal affront
