His path may be similar but he is nothing like Nigel who was honest to a fault.

Sounds familiar! He’ll be stood hands in pockets in his technical area staring at the the ground dreaming of the sack very soon. Ralphtastic!

At that point get shot as we will have tarnished his cv and there is no doubt relegation is on him.

I think buying Championship standard players (apart from Ramsdale) as helped the push for Derby’s record.

spot on with that post keep him here and let him endure the pain that is being the worst premiership team and manager ever .

Rather his whole approach is doomed from the outset. We will never succeed in the PL even with a tweaked version of his style. [Post edited 10 Dec 13:26]

POTD I think for that, providing we've got someone inbthe pipeline that coils start working on getting us back up. He will also need to have ideas on the squad etc One thing we can't have is that tvvat staying with the view that he's taken us up once, and can do it again, and he will therefore take us back down again!

Downside to that is that he must surely have had some say in the players (that turned out to be cr@p) which won't help him

Yes, but in the PL we'll never have those players. It's well past time for the club to stop pretending we're Man City and start playing in a way that suits the type of players we can afford.
Is Russel Martin’s Priority Southampton FC Or His Own Agenda on 17:15 - Dec 10 with 353 views | felly1 | Ever the optimist I hoped this season we'd survive but I remember feeling pretty uneasy listening to pretty season interview with our beloved leader and he kept emphasising the style of football wouldn't change. Where pragmatism and survival is the name of the game for newly promoted teams, Martin in hindsight was either arrogant or deluded or both to think this style would keep you up. I suspect he has his own personal agenda of self preservation at the cost of our club.
Is Russel Martin’s Priority Southampton FC Or His Own Agenda on 18:12 - Dec 10 with 286 views | grumpy | To play out from the back in the Premiership you have to have very good players to do it. Once you lose the ball most Premiership clubs have the quality players to punish you. Never been a fan of passing out from the back(particularly the way we do) because when you lose the ball your opponent has the ball close to your goal. What I don't get about Martin is he cannot see its not working,we have played 15 games and lost 12. Communication is certainly not one of Martins(if any) strong points. Whats the latest on Stewart and Tall Paul et etc? He plays players out of position, team selection is erratic and his substitutions even more so. The straw that broke the Camels back has been his criticism of fans wanting the ball forward rather than sideways. The owners letting this drag on need to have a good look at themselves because the fans had had enough. [Post edited 10 Dec 18:19]
