Apart from the great European nights we had in 76, this game has lived at the back of my memory since the night I saw it but have never been able to view again, until now.
31/01/78 FA Cup 4rd replay under the lights at LOftus Road V WEst Ham. Spam fans at both ends of the ground. A 5 goal 2nd half onslaught into the loft end.
I vividly remember Pop Robson's opener and that Martyn Busby scored 2 but could not picture any of the goals.
Don Givens equaliser in the first half. 2nd half goals from John Hollins, 2 from Buzzer, a Stanley penalty and #6 from Leighton James
So QPR make it throufh to round 5 losing out to Forest in Nottingham in a 2nd replay.
This was a time that cup competitions were truly magical
I started off in my normal position in the middle of the loft but as each goal went in I was pushed to the side.I ended up by the corner flag on South Africa road.Happy days.

I was there in SAR with Mrs Kernowhoop. Couldn't remember much detail except a) not being happy at going behind and b) West Ham goalkeeper (Day?) strolling well up the pitch when, in a previous fairly recent game, he had conceded when someone spotted him and lobbed the ball beyond him into the goal.

Back in those days there was always a small camera up in the gantry filming every home game, I assumed for post match analysis. Over the years footage such as this has come to light.

I was still queuing to get through the LR turnstiles when Spam went ahead. It was all good from there though. Went to the first two of the three matches in the next round two. I think Forest equalised in the last minute in the first one, a header from a centre back maybe Larry Lloyd of Needham if he was back in Nottingham at this stage. Thanks for posting, good to see a really packed Loftus Road and lots of goals.

I was also in the Loft that night , as said the Hammers were in there in numbers , not very pleasant , had to keep a low profile as the goals went in. Forest were a top side , one nil up and i think they Martin O'Neil nicked an equalizer at the Loft End with a couple of minutes to go , it was ever thus !

As a devoted 11 year old fan from the west of Ireland I was tuned into BBC2 that night and clearly recall the match updates from the eloquent Bryon Butler who reported. So much so, that I decided to tape his end of match report which was a gem. Whilst I don't remember it all he finished with ".....that must not detract from Rangers performance, however. They've had worries of their own. Tonight they were simply superb". I will never forget that and my excitement as goal after goal went in which even then was an unusual event for QPR. Plus ça change....
