Sunday Dinner 09:57 - Jul 31 with 2274 viewsKerouac

Is it important to you or is it a case of you can take it or leave it?

If you think it's important...
Does it matter whether it is a traditional roast? What's your favourite?
Or does the food not matter, more about sitting together with extended family to eat and catch up?
Are your Sunday dinners multi-generational affairs? Do your family all get on?

If it is not important to you...
Why do you not put much (chicken) stock in it? Do you have better things to do? What are they?

Not that bothered to be honest. We will be going for a drink in Langland later. Then return and about 5 ish get stuck into some freshly cooked tapas which Mrs T will have prepared. Washed down with a nice Rioja Vino Tinto. Not to say that we don't have the odd roast or go out for one. However it's not a must do thing for us on a Sunday. Each to their own though.

That all sounds very civilised
I'll be swamped by kids and dogs and my old Ma will be the most demanding of the lot!!

After compulsory morning chapel and a visit to my nasty cousinswe went home to a roast beef dinner-or lamb with mint fresh from our garden. Then Rice Pudding.

No wonder I buggered off

My mother in law passed away last year she would insist that we went for Sunday dinner every week which I used to think was a pain in the arse.

You don’t know what you’ve got till you lose it.

Sunday lunch seems to me to be a waste of a whole day. It's not so bad if you have it late afternoon.

Gotta love rare beef with horseradish. Mary Berry's Yoorkshire Pudding recipe is tremendous. But in answer to the OP, every once in a while due to the faff. Although prepping cauli cheese and boiling the spuds the night before helps (as does prepping the gravy vase, Jamie Oliver's ones are 👍)

We enjoy a "proper cooked" but we ony rarely have it. We have whatever we fancy the most and a Sunday lunch isn't so great in hot weather. I'll take a cold chicken salad or even just humble beans on toast.

We always used to have meal times together but with my work shifts that's become impossible for now so we spend time as a family wherever we can fit it in. Last night that was myself and my son grabbing a ball, putting our boots on and spending an hour over the local football pitch just pinging the ball back and forth.

The only time we defintely have a proper "Sunday lunch" is on Christmas day.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

My Mrs makes a cracking Sunday lunch.
But only every 6 or 7 weeks these days.

Best Sunday lunch ever - Dunkertons Cider Mill, Pembridge.
The cider is spot on too.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

DFS were around in 1960 young un.

Keep it to yourself but my father ate Ambrosia tinned creamed rice complet with Hartley blackcurrant jam.

That was probably because he was a Cardi and rather gauche whereas I saw myself as more urbane .

Only thing worse was leg of lamb with mint sauce fresh made from our large garden .

I don’t think I saw pasta until I was 21 .

You clearly go on holiday to the wrong places.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
