Embarrassing... 20:23 - Jan 8 with 7029 views | Ajack_Kerouac | ...I'm embarrassed by this club. - the standard of the football is a joke - our deluded fans are a joke - the woke bullshit is a joke - the 'manager' is possibly the biggest joke of the lot. ...I'm sure signing a couple of MK Dons players will keep everybody happy though, and the deluded fan base can pretend for a little while longer. We could get relegated and many would still pretend all was fine. This club is a joke.

Embarrassing... on 10:51 - Jan 9 by lifelong | We scored 2 goals and had 18 attempts on goal. |
One of them was an own goal. Perhaps the definition of an 'attempt at goal' is a bit loose, as I don't count Grimes lashing it 20 yards over from 35 yards out as much of an 'attempt'. We all know what we saw. We create sod all, and god help us when Piroe goes.

Embarrassing... on 09:55 - Jan 9 by builthjack | As I said when he arrived, it will take a good January transfer window, and a summer transfer window, to get the players he needs. Some of our existing players just can't pass and move. Simple as that. But some seem to want instant success. That rarely happens. |
The team is also slow. Slow in pace, slow to move the ball/switch play and slow in thought. They allow teams to reset their shape far too easily. The lack of pace is really exposed on the counter and is made worse by individual defensive errors and giving the ball away in poor positions. In the main I didn't enjoy the way Cooper set us up. The nagging question was did he want to play that way or did he believe that was the best set up with the players that he had? Is Martin finding this out the hard way.

Embarrassing... on 22:27 - Jan 8 by Tim_Harry | If I posted more often on here I'd be known as a happy clapper. The type of fan who sees the positives more than the negatives. I loved the idea of someone like Martin taking over. Any type of passing football will do me. I'm just not seeing it nowadays though. We're almost guaranteed to gift our opponents a goal every game. We're easy to defend against most of the time. We play a style of suicide football that (most of the time) only works against inferior opposition. I really hope I'm wrong and someone bumps this thread in a few months time and makes me look like a right tit. Can't see it though. |
If we rewind to that good spell of 5 wins in 7 (or whatever it was) we were set defensively and fluid through the midfield (as well as scoring goals) Martin messed around with the defence badly. On the left side we had a great combination in Bidwell and Manning, a real bonus for me was Manning’s adaptation to left centre half. I thought it worked fabulously. Pushing Manning to LWB which is not his thing at all) and playing Rhys “I really don’t want to be here” Williams was just asking for trouble. It coincided (or maybe was the reason) for Laird losing his mojo completely. When we lost Naughton for a couple of games we looked like we could concede at the drop of a hat and we did. The midfield sat back due to this uncertainty and loss of confidence in the defence and we just invited teams on to us and had no threat going forward . Yesterday surprised me a bit as I thought the gaffer would have wanted his best side out just to get some match fitness back after a month inactive.

Embarrassing... on 10:32 - Jan 9 by onehunglow | When Piroe goes ,just who takes over although it seems Russ doesnt like strikers really. |
Well we signed 2 young strikers to develop, Whittaker and Joseph. Whittaker has shown he has the eye for goal. I just hope they are both developing on loan, they should be here getting minutes, but there we go. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if we sold Piroe to somebody like Forest for £2.5m and a load of "fans" on here would line up to tell us 'it's a good deal actually, what with Covid etc.' Then Martin would spend a fraction of it on some no mark from MK Dons and let Whittaker go on a free. Nothing surprises me anymore, there is seemingly no limit to what idiots will accept.

The selling of all our decent players since we dropped out of the PL is down to the owners I would say. It does happen at other clubs but not to the extent that we have been doing it. Nowhere near.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

We realistically had to sell them and as time went on it was necessary. Ifs and maybe's but if we had signed one of either Bony or Ayew then our fighting fund would have been much greater when the drop occurred.

Embarrassing... on 14:17 - Jan 9 with 771 views | swancity | There were many positive encouraging signs yesterday and at 2-1 there looked to be only one winner. But from that moment, defensively we were poor. We went to sleep. However, there are too many weaknesses both in terms of personnel and playing style. I’ve been a big fan of Ryan Bennett but he struggled. His ( lack of pace ) was concerning him yesterday which meant he was rushing his passing. To play this football we need the quality. We don’t have it. That’s not the fault of the manager by the way as we are in the main not spending on players. I think we need to adapt our playing style slightly. To be more direct in deep positions and to use more width. Our club is not what it was. Our manager is working hard to get results whilst implementing a style although he might not have all of the tools for the job ( the right quality of player ) Overall I saw lots to be positive about yesterday. It’ll just take a bit of tweaking. But it’s a results business ad anyone like me who recalls our championship winning season of 2000. 50 goals scored and around 30 conceded in 46 games but I loved it. Best of luck to RM.

Embarrassing... on 15:05 - Jan 9 with 724 views | A_Fans_Dad | All the people on here saying "Give him time", "He needs the right players" etc. Please explain how he is going to get the "right players" to play like a £300Million pound side like Man City with his budget. The players that we have can play good football their way, to expect them to be able to play like MC is beyond stupid, if they could they would be playing for a Prem side. It has ben mentioned and I totally agree that the apart from a totally destroyed defence the biggest lack is pace. Even those that have a bit are apparently too scared to use it, the only player who has been prepared to take on defenders a nd get in a cross is Manning. One thing that has been apparent with every bad manager we have had is the destruction of player confidence and we are seeing that in a lot of our players now. They do not have "belief", in the Manager, the system, the tactics or themselves. [Post edited 9 Jan 2022 15:16]

His thought processes are too slow for attacking mid play. The best thing he did all game was run past their defence without the ball for the through ball.

I’d disagree with just about every word of that Yesterday there were many positives. Accepting we had a one man advantage there were periods where we played some attractive football, creating 18 goal attempts to their 8 I think it was. Had Piroe accepted that late chance to win it, we would be celebrating a fine win. Those are the fine margins. Lots of clubs even in lower leagues and non leagues adopt this style. The manager will be well aware of the areas where we need to be stronger. We must be patient. What all of this shows is the incredible job that SC did for two years.

Naughton has never really been the subject of any transfer talk suggesting few other club rate him. He has earned a lot of money from our club without being anything remotely "great". He is simply another one, like Grimes,we can't shift. Good players have gone in a heartbeat and replaced by dross.

Connor Roberts went cheap because he was out of contract. Lowe's fee was a disappointing fee but more than Swansea paid for Obafemi. Swansea can 'wheel and deal ' or not buy at all. Neither player has pulled up any trees this season but Obafemi is younger and has a better pedigree. Whatever criticism you have of Martin his signings (with Scott) have been good compared to say Potters' signings. Which would you prefer? a) Piroe, Downes, Patterson, Walsh Obafemi £3.5 m b) Celina Asoro McKay John £7m. (All dispatched by Steve Cooper 3 for zilch) . Swansea have had up to 4 players doing good development in league 1 and below Garrick the pick. Garrick, Whittaker, Cooper O and Joseph. Cullen, Benda and Brandon Cooper could all go out still and return as better players. The fans are part owners of Swansea city but lack a backbone and have a tendency to complain whine and play the victim. Losers think like losers. Music to the ears of slick London people that specialise in getting maximum return for minimum work. They only invested £200,000 and if Swansea get back to the premier league will cash in for a cool £40,000,000. Anyone with back bone would like the look of that and graft to get the club back there and be keen as hell to network and sign a tag on agreement with uncle Sam. The Martin way is the only way. Whether it is with Marin or not is the only question. He has to get the loan boys in his team for next season. A young squad f of keen as mustard technically sound strong and fast players with a maximum of 2 or 3 of old heads in Grimes Patterson and Naughton to lead them.

Indeed - potentially / allegedly violating 'an agreement' in the process! Yet the moany trust should forget that and sign another agreement with people who were potentially / allegedly party to breaking the last one Let alone the fact that the Americans probably won't want to restrict their options by signing one of these agreements.
