Live football on amazon prime on 22:04 - Dec 3 by MrSwerve | Indeed, I used to subscribe to the NBA service for basketball...every game played was available on there, with a handy feature to hide the scores on the app so that you could watch multiple games back to back without knowing the scores. You could spend hours and hours watching it if you wanted to. Could totally see the PL doing that in the not too distant future. |
Can't speak for the NBA experience, but I suspect the biggest sticking point at present is the time lag between live TV and streaming. Amazon/The PL won't be happy with the goals being all over Twitter 30-60 seconds before they appear on screen. If they can get that down to 10-15 seconds or so then Sky are in trouble.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Didn’t realise the iptv’s were working these days, I’ve had four different one’s over the last few years and they’ve all packed in and done a runner with my hard earned, so I’ve gone back to Sky for 18 months.

Rog, in fairness to my provider, they brought it back at no additional cost, although come renewal time their's been a slight rise in cost, I'm not complaining at all though. It took them a little while but they did it, yes we get the odd glitch but they're always on top of it and the support you get if you have a prob is excellent

Yep, or just download the Amazon music app.

Read something on the BBC sport page last night that the Beeb have found a solution to the lag issue, but needs a lot of work before it can be rolled out. Here's some info: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-45499784 If Amazon are just using the two rounds of games as a loss leader to get people to sign up for Prime and spend more on their website, then this may be the end of it. If they see the potential to get into live football more seriously, I imagine they can speed up the implementation of the BBC's solution quickly by throwing money at it.
| You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help. |

Sky and BT were not allowed to bid for these games. The Premier League deliberately held these games back hoping for a bidding war between Amazon, Netflix, Google, Facebook and Apple, but it didn't happen. Amazon are looking at this package as a loss leader, but hope they will still attract new customers to its website over the Christmas period. They're going to see how this package works before deciding whether to mount a big challenge next time the main Premier League contract is due to begin for the 2022-23 season.

It’s fine. I don’t watch any build up or analysis so it could be on any channel as far as I’m concerned.

It’s not true. There are two packages of two x 20 games which were designed to attract streaming services. Amazon got one, BT got the other. They weren’t barred from bidding for them. [Post edited 4 Dec 2019 19:49]
