Incredibly simplistic attempts are obviously easy to spot. It was good to see a DDoS attack, if that was the case was quickly resolved - although it may just have been load on the system, Seen too many systems where "DevOps" has been used and devs magically believe the number of threads for handling requests is identical between desktop dev machine and production.

Indeed, that brought a very prominent system down a few years ago.

Sadly, security tends to be the last thing programmers tend to look at or consider other than maybe a cursory glance at OWASP page - I'm probably as guilty of that as anyone else.

Well, I take it back my friend and your not wrong about programmers lol. Did well with my first company because of two things, Internet and... Yeah, programmers, actually, that's a little unfair, I should include budgets and architect's lol. I used to plan, build and supply teams to pen test Web apps, then corporate infrastructure and then moved into other areas.

Owasp, osint and similar are fanatsic tools. But. We digress.

Ha... A fellow potential geek on here lol.

Oh as if you ever doubted I was a geek!

I'll be honest I've ever really focused too heavily on security issues in my code. Part of that is I'm more back end side of things rather than front end / full stack. I actually started as a tester many moons ago.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Those idiots failed to apply simple software patches. Software patches that were free involving no fvcking cost.

That's not unique to NHS, there are plenty of servers out there on the internet that are years behind in simple patches.

The software was incompatible with the systems they were running. They were still running Windows NT for crying out loud.

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks

Which in itself wasn't the problem.

The problem was that they failed to apply published and received patches for YEARS - meaning systems had known, documented exploits and the wonderful admins couldn't be arsed applying the patches.

ANY external facing server has to be kept at the latest patch version. That's bloody obvious. I'd personally also fire anybody in NHS using computers connected to external internet for personal business or sharing external emails...
