Fans Forum 27th March 20:56 - Mar 15 with 16904 viewsTwelveAngryMen

The Interim Board have tasked me with organising a fans forum to assist them with understanding our requirements as fans as we look forward and start planning for next season.

Ben Hatton, Michael Bolingbroke and myself are all confirmed to attend. If Ian Currie is available he will attend as well.

Topics under discussion will include season ticket pricing, travel, requirements of exiles, stand allocation, communication, community engagement, the appointment of an SLO and what can be done to deliver the best matchday experience.

The forum will be held at Rowley’s on Wednesday 27th March commencing at 7pm and will strictly be by invitation only. Non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided.

In order to make the discussion as productive as possible the number of attendees will be limited to 50 to include committee members from BST, BSA, The Muckers and representatives from BASIL, Yorkshire Seasiders, Leyland and Chorley and the TKs.

Having received feedback from those groups I have allocated the places available as follows —

BST/BSA/THE MUCKERS — 4 committee places each

BASIL / YORKSHIRE / LEYLAND AND CHORLEY AND TK’s - 2 committee places each.

In addition BST/BSA/THE MUCKERS will be able to nominate up to 4 additional members each.

I require names / addresses / ages for all attendees and also an indication as to whether (boycott period aside) they have been ST holders and if so for how long.

This information is only being sought for demographic purposes.

Assuming the committee members and general members allocation is fully subscribed that brings us to 32.

I am also going to allocate one place to a disability representative (I have asked Chris Beveridge to attend or nominate).

The remaining 17 places ( and any additional places that come available if any of the groups don’t use their full allocation ) will be made available to the general fan base whether affiliated to a particular group or not.

Assuming there is sufficient interest I will look to allocate fair share to U18’s and Seniors.

Anyone other than serving committee members of the above can email me on timfielding82@icloud.com providing the same information I seek of the fans groups nominations to register their interest in attending . If I am over-subscribed I will draw lots.

The deadline for nominations for the open places is Thursday next 7pm.

Hopefully I will see some of you at Burton tomorrow.

I'd take a wild stab in the dark and say that the new board members (Currie, Hatton & Bolingbroke) came up with that number. I was quite surprised it was that many, thought it would be less than 30.

Personally,I thought the board could run the club themselves, seems they are struggling for ideas or not capable. Why not just invite the board of BST they have operated well over the years or bring in some other board member, they are getting well imbursed. No real need to include any tom dick or harry.

I'll be happy if we ever get to the stage where we have decent owners who keep the fans informed.

That scenario will do for me.

I'm not bothered about fan involvement.

The agenda for tomorrow night’s fans’ forum with Blackpool Football Club’s new board has been released.

Executive director Ben Hatton, consultant Michael Bolingbroke and non-executive directors Ian Currie and Tim Fielding are all due to attend the meeting, which will be held at Rowley’s restaurant inside Bloomfield Road.

The forum will begin at 7pm on Wednesday.

The board hopes the event will help assist them with understanding the fans’ requirements as the club begins to plan for next season.

Topics under discussion will include: season ticket pricing, travel, requirements of exiled supporters, stand allocation, communication, community engagement, the appointment of a Supporter Liaison Officer and what else can be done to deliver the best matchday experience.

The meeting is invitation-only but around 50 supporters, including the different fan groups, are expected to attend.

Recording of the meeting is not permitted but The Gazette will publish a full report, both in the newspaper and online, on Thursday.

Agenda:

- Introductions
- Stadium configuration - seat allocation, away fans and family stand - Thoughts around pricing - match-day tickets, season tickets and concessions
- Match-day experience - pre-match and goal music, hospitality options and exiles
- Appointment and role of a Supporters’ Liaison Officer - Q&A with the board

Recording of the meeting not permitted - A bit boring but there's no need to be suspicious an get hot under the collar about it.

- Stadium configuration - seat allocation: Not sure what this is.

- Stadium configuration - away fans: In the East

- Stadium configuration - family stand/ give good seats to the families and don't shove them away in a desolate corner.

- Thoughts around pricing - match-day tickets, season tickets and concessions : Normal prices for and ambitious L1 club. No silly offers. Family and young fan priority.

- Match-day experience: I suppose beer tents and a sort of village with more beer and attractions for kids would be popular. Not bothered personally.

- pre-match and goal music: Not something I like but OK then if it floats peoples' boats.

- hospitality: I wouldn't bat an eyelid if they were stuck in the east next to the away fans and fed on out of date pies. It brings much needed money in for the club so a good show has to be put on for them I suppose.

exiles: to be private jetted in free of charge.

- Appointment and role of a Supporters’ Liaison Officer: Yes

- Q&A with the board: Who's buying the club and when?

There!!

Jane it's a discussion point as to how this issue should be decided on going forward not a decision to be made tomorrow

I think the starting point is to put together a short list

By who and how that's to be done might be one for the fan groups to recommend

On reflection, it does appear a rather elaborate meeting to discuss what are inconsequential customer experience issues.

The fact that the screens were fixed, staff hired and bottle bars installed etc all within days of the CAR being in situ tells me the new board are on the ball. Whilst I understand this is positive and we've arrived at a moment in time with a real opportunity to reshape various areas of the club for the better, I do think we are in danger of being a little too prescriptive - I mean goal music?... Who actually gives a fcuk?

Rotts you pick on one item

I'd sort of agree if the meeting had been convened just to deal with that

I'd suggest however there are other agenda items that have more ' meat on the bones '

There is in addition the opportunity for those present to put forward suggestions and to hold a Q&A which can then be circulated via the Gazette

It's also an opportunity for the Board to listen to what is important from a fan perspective rather than presume

Ben and I are also doing a presentation to the business community on Friday which will also help the Board understand where we can go with corporate sponsorship and where they need to pitch the pricing for their ideas

It's all part of ' building the picture '

Yeah, happy with most of that. Well done

Stadium configuration

Seat allocation, away fans and family stand. I'm not convinced by safe standing. Away fans in the East. Family Stand, anywhere except the East or North Stand Blocks A & B.

Ticket pricing

Tough one this, as long as it's fair I'm ok with it. (Just simply because of the average earnings in Blackpool, we're always going to be on the cheaper side). Keep the same concessions as now.

I'd like us to set an upper price on the cost of tickets to away fans attending Bloomfield Road, no more than £20 maybe even £18. Now whether that's in agreement with other clubs i'm guessing would be up to the new owners. I'd still like us to make a start tho on this. Got a feeling I maybe peeing against the wind on this tho.

Match-day experience

Pre-match and goal music. Bit old school on this, not a great fan, but understand things have moved on. Easy with just about anything as long as it's not associated with any other club.

Hospitality options and exiles. My red line here. Tar and Feather the lot of them on the centre spot at half time.

SLO. Sooner the better as long as they are given the remit to do their job without interference.

PS more bins, I'm a lazy sod.

I get that TAM and am definitely not knocking the effort. I just have a great faith in yourself and the board and wouldn't want this small window of opportunity wasted discussing trivialities which will iron out over time in any case.

I can guarantee that the goal music WILL be discussed at great length tomorrow whereas Safe Standing for example, will not. The latter having the potential of adding 500+ to attendances, the goal music being neither here nor there. The merit in talking to the business community and re-engaging their attention is clear (£££) but I'd like to leave the minutiae of the club operations blank for fans to fill in organically over time - if that makes sense? That's my suggestion box comment anyways.....

It's not for the traditionalists but yes, a lot of people enjoy the goal music.

Rather than simply banging a record on, I'm sure someone with a bit of imagination can do some great stuff with goal, halftime and pre-match music.

Main issues for me :

1) ST prices kept low. £230 sounds about right

2) on the day prices around £18-20

3) I would like some form of club managed away travel

4) visiting fans in the East

5) go back to where we were before the Riga Revolution on ST allocations so boycotters can get their old seats back

6) Some kind of protocol for how club will work with BST and continue with an ELECTED fan as an observer on the board

7) BST to have a permanent office on club premises

Rotts 👍

They can make changes short term but I think a lot of what goes on at the club will be up to the new owners going forward not the interim board

As for the ex season ticket holders getting their old seats back. Good luck with that 😀
