Swans U23s v Man Utd U23s on 15:51 - Mar 18 with 5812 views | jasper_T | Clinical first half. Didn't get hold of the game like we usually do but quality on the counter. Evans and Maric had good games. James disappointing, no end product. Keston Davies is alive?!? Comical dive from one of their players in the second half. Threw his hands in the air like Rooney used to. Nice to see they're teaching their kids the essentials.
Swans U23s v Man Utd U23s on 16:24 - Mar 18 with 5693 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | Half the squad should be playing in League 2 or even the conference instead of rotting in the U23s. This isn't a table we should be happy we're close to the top of. They're not going to develop playing against whichever players the big clubs couldn't find anybody to take for a year on loan.

You talk absolute shite. They already play more attractive football than the first team did under Bradley and Clement. They have progressed from the lower league, which they won to within striking distance of winning the top league, especially as a lot of them are actually under 21. If that is not developing and progress I don't know what is. What you fail to understand about youngster Loans is that unless they are absolutely exceptional that will not get game time in place of the team regulars. So most of them sit on the bench keeping it warm, which does them no good whatsoever.

I notice your Man Utd youngsters are languishing in bottom spot. Poor show that, forsaking youngster development for £80M buys and the first team is STILL as boring as hell. Is there any wonder that there's more atmosphere on the moon than @ Old Trafford 😠[Post edited 18 Mar 2018 16:58]

The issue with the loan market is that most lower league managers are just as (if not more) risk-averse than top flight ones. Unless a player is something very special indeed, or carries a very high reputation/Big Club badge, they will not get regular gametime for a club at their level. League One and Two clubs tend to use loans to provide depth and injury cover to their squads. It's too much of a gamble to bring in an untested 20 year old as a starter. They're going to opt for the 30 year old who played 2 seasons in the Championship 5 years ago every time instead. With the experienced player who is used to the environment they know what they'll get. Just look at Connor Roberts. He only got his break at Yeovil because of an injury crisis there (and then swept their end of season awards), and his next two loans were completely pointless because the 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice fullbacks didn't all get hurt at once. Would have been better off playing 20 games a season for the u23s, especially considering we had Rangel and Fer covering his position for most of that time. Hopefully Giggs will give him a chance for Wales in the China Cup.

In fairness they play a very young side. One of their players today is 16 and was marking a player 7 years older than him (according to twitter).

Bit strange to field an uncompetitive team of 16 to 18 yearolds in an u23 league. Wastes everyone's time.

In theory they can attract the very best, and are only interested in the very best, so putting them up against older age groups regularly should be fine and would aid their development better. In practice it's not worked this season and they're going to drop down a division. There's no shortage of managers willing to give a "United Trainee" a go (and a big contract) so it's a different environment. They can give up on young players sooner than we do. They managed to profit on Donald Love ffs.
Swans U23s v Man Utd U23s on 18:51 - Mar 18 with 5377 views | Al_Bundy | Watched Byers closely today to see if he offers the first team anything. The player is top notch with good first touch and vision and his weighted passes are a delight to watch. The other side of his game is not great when possession is lost and struggles to track back. Also the tempo of the U23 is fairly sedate in comparison and heavy challenges are non existent at this level maybe suggesting why some struggle going out on loan. One for the future though and hopefully keeps progressing.

He plays as a number 10 for the 23s, he did more tracking back today than he's usually asked to do.

Just had a look at the Man Utd squad think the players thy are talking about were Laird and Gorre 16 and 23 respectively however Man Utd fielded 4 21 year olds 1 20 year old 4 19 year olds hardly a team of 16-18 year olds

Gorre has been with us 5 years. He is 24 in September. Will he ever play regularly for our first team ?

Can’t see it now Kilkenny and I assume out of contract this summer, I still think the management of players going on loan is somewhat haphazard at best surely the link with DC United should of seen some of our more experienced U23s getting some time in the MLS and maybe bridging that step up
