Happy birthday punk, Quick question, if being 40 makes you middle aged, and you've used that moniker for a fair few years, what does that make someone who is 50 next year??

Wife and kids out. I've been having a 90 minutes Ruts revival. Loved that band. Great tunes and tight as fck. They must have been blinding live. Still remember when Malcolm Owen ended it. Very sad day.
LondonScottish,
One of my favourite singles of that era is Jah War by the Ruts. If you listen to it at regular speed (45rpm) it sounds like a typical "punk band does reggae" -- and pretty good at that. But if you listen to the single at 33rpm then it get amazing -- heavy dub style. I'm sure I am not the only person who noticed this excellent duality.

Every Ruts song is a masterpiece.

Not sure if I have already contributed to this thread but here goes. I was never a punk they were too scruffy but there were one or 2 tunes that i liked. White man at hammersmith palais, train in vain, white riot, guns of Brixton all by the Clash. English rose by the Jam or was it more Weller. Moving on I had a lot of time for BIg Audio Dynamite and the Style Council.
