Ideally, I'd have wanted Evans to realise the girl was too drunk to give proper consent, but that seems unlikely in this day and age.
Without knowing all the facts it's difficult to give a fair opinion. Yes, Evans may have raped her; yes he may have taken advantage of a drunk girl; yes he may have thought he had her full consent. Who knows for sure?
Either way, I still wouldn't want a convicted criminal here. I'm proud of the "family club" feel we have and don't want it sullied by someone who - rightly or wrongly - was convicted of rape. |  |
