Pub near Wembley? 16:47 - Mar 18 with 6506 viewsMrGrieves

It's been a while since I went - does anyone know of any decent pubs not too far from the stadium? I'll likely be walking from Wembley Central tube.

Anyone of ten to choose from.

The greyhound is on route to the ground and is fairly large!

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

The Greyhound has been shut for about 5 years.

Closed in 2010. Not before time. I was brought up on the front step of The Greyhound with a Schweppes Lemonade and a packet of Smith's Crisps, while the old man got bladdered inside.

Visited relatives a few weeks ago to watch England v Ireland rugby. Little Irish pub opposite Greyhound called Mannions? All lager/Guinness was £3 a pint. Then as you walk down from Wembley Central to the Triangle there's a largish Wetherspoon's - JJ Moons?, which should be predictable though it's years since I've been inside.

I grew up in Wembley. The majority have all been bulldozed or closed...The Harrow Tavern, The Century, The Village Inn, The Greyhound.

I think the Green man on Dagmar Ave is still open and the Torch at Wembley Park but suspect they will be rammed as not many options nowadays.

Yep. I'm ex Sudbury and plenty of those pubs are gone too: Sudbury Arms, the Mitre, dog & Duck... Luckily The Swan is one of the finest pubs in London and still going strong.

My mate Mal runs The Green Man, that's a good shout. It's massive and they put on tents etc outside so it's relatively easy to get a drink

If you remember The Harrow Tavern and The Century then we might have crossed paths 40 years ago.

I lived in Monks Park, so it was the Tavern or the Greyhound, unless you wanted to cross the North Circ to the badlands of the Coach and Horses by Stonebridge bus garage.

That takes me back. Used to live behind old stadium. Friday nights began in Stallone's?? drinking Newquay Steam Beer. Then went on to Century (they had a stripper that danced with an enormous snake) and Dog and Duck which were good pubs. The Harrow Tavern was going those days too though I'd only visit Sunday lunchtime for a pint with Dad. Also have many happy memories having a beer with my father in law in the Green Man on Dagmar Avenue. That must have been 25-30 years ago, different generations drinking together was quite usual. Don't see so much of that these days though I encourage my son to join Dad and I for a beer. Something nice about 3 generations out at once.
