Rangers are now down to the last four away games of the season, starting this Saturday with a trip to Scunthorpe.

By Car: A long trip, but a very simple one. From London head north up either the M1 or A1 until it reaches the M18. Leave the M18 at junction five by the services to join the M180 towards Scunthorpe and Grimsby. Follow the world’s straightest, emptiest, most boring motorway for 12 miles and then just after the Trent bridge turn off at junction three onto the M181. This brings you in under the railway right next to the stadium and it is just a case of right at the first roundabout and right again at the second one past the giant Tesco and various fast food places into the car park by the ground. The whole place is a bloody nightmare for an hour before and after the match owing to some numpty to decide to empty a giant Tesco, a 9000 capacity football ground, a garden centre, a KFC, a Pizza Hut, a hotel and a large pub all out onto the same small, two laned roundabout. This is a 190 mile trip from Loftus Road.

Parking: There is a large car park at the ground which cost £2 on my last visit. All the surrounding eateries and retail outlets have car parks but I should imagine they are strictly policed on a matchday. Street parking is few and far between unless you drive past the ground on your right up the Berkeley roundabout and then do a right and right again and park on the Lodgmore Estate but that is not really practical for those trying to get straight out onto the motorway afterwards. One tip might be, and I’ve no idea if you are still allowed to do this, turn left at the first roundabout you come to at the end of the M181 instead of right, and then park on the grass verge of the wide open Gunness straight. You can then be back on the motorway in three seconds after the match although, again, police may now have stopped people doing this.
By Train: Expensive stuff at this late stage, a Super Off Peak Return retails at £77.60 and booking in advance, leaving at 0910 and coming back at 1818, will save you only £7 from that. It’s East Coast from Kings Cross with a change at Doncaster onto the Trans Pennine Service for this one.
The station is more than two miles from the ground, although you do pass the stadium on your left as you arrive by train. To do it on foot turn left out of the station, straight on at the lights and then keep going straight on past the hospital on your right to a junction with a dual carriageway. Then throw a right and follow that down the hill to the Berkley Roundabout. Straight on there and the ground appears on your left after the garden centre. It’s a good 40 minute slog for most people I would suggest. Taxis wait outside the station, and can be called on 01724 844444.
Coach: The official coach leaves Loftus Road at 8.30am and calls at the Target roundabout at 9am. Tickets are priced £29 adult, £18 for seniors and young adults, and £16 for juniors with the usual discount for season ticket holders. Due to demand the LSA is putting on a second coach for this game leaving Loftus Road at 8am. Please call Gary 07951 423 341 as soon as possible to book your place. Pubs: There is a supporters club and a large pub at the ground, the latter definitely welcomes away fans and the QPR fans reported a very friendly reception there on our last visit. Everything else is a little bit further away with the Berkley Hotel half a mile down the road and the Warren Lodge further still. In town there is the usual collection down the High Street which is a ten minute walk from the station, the Honest Lawyer is closer but is rammed with ten people inside.
Tickets: QPR have sold all but 200 of their 2,000 allocation for this game and the remaining seats are on sale at Loftus Road until close of business on Thursday. There will be tickets available on the day if we return those. They are £24 adult, £17 young adult and seniors, £10 for juniors under 16 and disabled are the same with a carer for free.
